All Downtown Portland (OR) Locations Closed?

Quick question... headed back to Portland in a month or so, and often use to rent Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty from I believe was the 330 SW Pine (downtown Portland) location. Today tried various car rental search sites (Hertz, AAA, AutoSlash, etc), and none showed any existing locations in downtown Portland. Reached out to AutoSlash and they guessed perhaps they were closed. Were the downtown locations closed? Recently? Sorta odd, no? If I do a google search, the 330 SW Pine location appears in a web search, tried calling (late in the day), got no answer. Anyone have any info? No biggie, can rent from PDX but was wondering...

There is a Hertz HLE on SE Stark Street, about eight miles south of the airport. If you are price sensitive -- and if the HLE is open when you need to pick up the car -- I would compare the cost of a taxi to SE Stark Street (plus the cost of picking up the rental there with a return to the airport), with the cost of renting from and returning to the airport. If it's a rental of some length, renting from the HLE -- even with the taxi/Uber fare -- might save you considerable money.

the PDX location for my needs is fine, just very surprised that Hertz et al apparently no longer have any downtown Portland locations. Any idea why they closed (assuming they did)?

I think that a lot of downtown rental-car locations across the country closed during the pandemic. Manhattan still has several, but Manhattan has always been a special case when it comes to rental cars.

Google maps indicates the Hertz location is permanently closed, but that Thrifty still exists at 330 SW Pine.

However, Hertz UK hasnt gotten the message that the location is permanently closed.

https://www.hertz.co.uk/rentacar/car...land_or/pdxc12

And thrifty.com still lets you select the location, but then indicates that it is closed during the selected pickup or return time.

Not surprising if downtown Portland locations are closed... either from the pandemic and never reopens, or after due to the crime and homeless encampments around the city.

I've rented at that downtown location several times over the years since the pandemic, perhaps it was the crime and homeless that motivated the closing. Oh well, thanks.
