Europe - fee for crossing a border?
Hi,
it's been a while I rented from hertz for driving internationally (from NL) but just discovered there's a 25 euros charge if you want to cross the border. Is this new?

No, it’s been around for a few years. Has spread, at least, to Spain (Barcelona) as well. Have unsuccessfully challenged it, so seems to be a thing. Disgraceful money grab in a small country like NL.

How hard is it to find the tracker and wrap it in tin foil? 
Easier alternative: book with a company that isn’t openly hostile to its customers and spending all their creative energy on trying to come up with new scams …
