h422/h426 codes
So those of you who used the H422 or H426 code... did you have any problems with it when the time came to get on the train? Find any restrictions?
It sounds like a great deal... but I'm wondering what might have been in the "fine print".... Thanks for your help! |

It sounds like a great deal... but I'm wondering what might have been in the "fine print".... Thanks for your help! I've used H422 for WAS-NYP & my sisters have used a number of times - I've never had any issue - I always use the kiosk check-ins though. On the train itself, no one cares. They pick the tickets after you get on the train & just see what your destination is, not the price you paid. |
H426
I booked a trip from Vancouver, BC to Edmonds, WA with H426, great discount. We were able to order far enough in advance that we got paper tickets, so it should work out OK, but they do say non-refundable on them. We'll be going in September, so I'll post if anything goes wonky when we travel.

Heads up! It looks like H422 & H426 MIGHT be expiring 8/31/04. I have not been able to price any NEC itins on those codes for 9/1 or later.

Travelling SFW-FNO on San Joaquin on 9/22 on H426. Have tickets in hand. It appears that code is no longer valid for new reservations during that or prior timeframes in September.

Worked for me
Just used the H422 for this week - 25% off worked....travel all in Aug.

H426 is indeed still valid, just booked this great discount for trains 66/67 (former Federal/Twilight Shoreliner/Night Owl) on 9/18 and 9/19.

H422 and H426
Tried to use both codes for a trip from Seattle to Redding in October, but it was a no go. Perhaps a new set of codes will pop up for the fall and winter?

V148 Does Not Seem to Work
I punched it in for several travel dates this fall, but it came back with a message that the fare was unavailable.
|
It appears to be on very limited trains. I just saw it on the Trip Rewards website - on the right hand column of this page: http://www.triprewards.com/ip-tr/Ways.jsp?brandcode=NA

Code v822
The 25% off H422/H426 codes don't work for me anymore. But I found a new code thats good for 20% off unreserved trains in the Northeast Corridor through 12/16/04. The code is :V822
Hope this helps someone! :) |
So far, no go on V148
I found the reference to the V148 20% discount on the Trip Rewards site under "current promotions". The promotion appears to apply to many trains outside of the Northeast. However, it fails to work on the nonexcluded trains/dates I tried. I am a member of Trip Rewards.
I emailed Amtrak explaining the problem. We'll see if there is a response before the promotion ends! It entirely possible that they're "offering" this but haven't programmed their system (while their partner has lived up to their end of the deal). |
