You could make a points booking on a cheap segment for yourself, well into the future. Ideally something that you might use but even if not it locks up the point past expiration and ideally more earning activity. Refunding the points ticket would have a 10% fee but the system may or may not recognize the points are expired. Lancaster to Philadelphia is 675 points on the Pennsylvanian.
