fine dining program?
Does anyone have any current comments on the Fine Dining Program. I did a search and found nothing recently.
Is it really all that good? Can they get you a window table,or a table with a view?
Do you think the Rest. really knows if you are a AMEX PLT or even Cent. card member and does thier best to please you, even more than others?
When you call (the regular Concierge number) do they ask you anything (card number, those extra 4 digits, exp, name or SS#?) or do you bascially just say rest., date and time, and no matter what you are all set i.e. a table will be available. Or do they ask for any special preferences? Like, i.e. Could you have drinks on the table (assumming they know what table will be assigned to you, and you know exactly what you want) as soon as you get there?
When they you call them, do they in turn call the Rest. or do they do it via the computer?
Thanks.

I have found the results vary by restaurant. Some restaurants actually have one specific table that is the Fine Dining Table. If its been reserved by another cardmember, there will be nothing available for you. At those restaurants when it is available you always sit in the same seat! At other restaurants they just give AMEX preferred reservations. So you can usually do better than calling on your own. Finally, there are some restaurants which do not seem to do anything special, and it is amazing that AMEX does not boot them off the list. AMEX calls the restaurant direct (you can hold while they do so). Before doing so they verify who you are, that you are a cardmemeber, etc. I have never received special treatment because of AMEX upon arrival at a restauant.

They have always come thru for me when I can't get a table directly. Asia de Cuba in NYC for instance. I could never get in on my own with a day or so notice but Amex could every time.
