Yes, you can buy anything. I bought a $200 Amazon gift card and got reimbursed. Many people like to buy in increments of $25 because they can claim the $25 was a baggage fee if they have to request reimbursement.

Same. Bought one on 10/14, auto reimbursed on 10/16. Bought another on 10/18, nothing yet.

My understanding is that straight up buying United gift cards does not work for reimbursement, but united gift registry does.

It is kind of funny that the MPX app does not allow for the purchase of United gift cards, but such is life. All MPX gift cards should work since Amazon is working. If you don't use amazon, perhaps Papajohns?

a few questions.

1. So you can buy anything using mpx app (not necessarily Amazon gift card) and you would get reimbursed as United airline fee credit?

2. Would the mpx purchase count toward the initial spending requirement for welcome bonus (even if after the fee is reimbursed)?

3. Since mpx is recognized as airline purchase, I would get 3x me points if I use premier gold to make mpx purchase, right?

anyone got refund on/after Oct 20? I applied on 18th and registered UA for the airline(emailed confirmed). Got card and spent $100 on Oct 20 with MPX but nothing so far. By the way I have spent more than $2000 so far--booked a vacation with it.
