If RDM conversion I don't think ~27k miles is worth $600. Maybe find someone who is traveling anyway and get them to add your BE number to their booking? Good luck, it is frustrating seeing something of value die on the vine.

Is there some rule that BusinessExtraa awards cannot be used to book for children?

I don't see any language on the website about this, but the birth year drop down only goes up to 2012. Even if I do choose 2012, it says something about not being eligible.

Anyone know if this is an official policy? Or do I just need to call?

No clue...my post from 2019 was simply regarding the nature of complimentary status in general...EQMs/EQDs were not granted with gifted status then and would be shocked if it comes with LPs commensurate with the gifted status now.

I need three people in biz extra to allow redemption and only have two people right now. Any idea on how I can trigger a 3rd flyer in biz extra program very quick so I can redeem before 12/15? Do I have someone fly the ticket or just buy a ticket for a 3rd person?

Oh no I had one last bxp1 upgrade certificate to cancel. I won’t be able to attach to a ticket before dec 15, sadly. When I log into my aa business extra account it now shows my spend slightly less than 5k! Will I be able to convert that certificate to miles or even a lounge pass since my certificate is no longer valid or am I skrewed??

The website says it's good through 3/31/2025:


AAdvantage Platinum® appointments issued January 1st through August 30th of each year are valid through March 31st of the following year (i.e. Mar. 31, 2024).
AAdvantage Platinum® appointments issued September 1st through December 31st of each year are valid through March 31st of the next calendar year (i.e. Mar. 31, 2025).

Surprisingly was able to redeem a bxp3 from lhr to ord for next May today. Although it took an hour through chat, the agent was able to update the original reservation on hold to a fare class that I could apply the bxp3..with only a 60 fare change ticket and then apply the upgrade properly. The only thing they could not do was apply the luxury tax for leaving lhr and indicated I would need to pay at the airport. First experience with chat and was pleasantly surprised at the experience.

Yea, I would make triple sure that the upgrade is actually processed and ticket reissued. Even EXP reps have never been able to deal with Business Extra upgrades or awards so the fact that a chat rep was able to confirm it is surprising to say the least.

And be very careful because if it isn't properly processed and then IRROPS messes with your flight later, you could very well have the BXP kicked out into the void.

I recently had a situation where I bought J on BOS-LAX, used a BXP1 to upgrade to F. That was on a Saturday, and overnight that night there was a schedule change. So the next day I had been rebooked in regular first class on something like BOS-ORD-LAX (because AA torpedoed BOS-LAX frequencies). No problem, I thought, I'd just call and switch to BOS-JFK-LAX -- but they refused because the BXP1 upgrade hadn't actually been reticketed. Even though I had an email showing "confirmed" neither the EXP desk nor the Business Extra/Meeting Services people would budge. The BXP1 was automatically reinstated as unused in my account (before I even called), as though it had never been redeemed. Super frustrating, eventually availability popped up for a mileage upgrade so I just did that instead.

Used to be my view that these tickets didn't actually get reticketed, but after that experience, there is at least some measure of reticketing that has to happen before the upgrade is truly confirmed. I'd like to think that with LHR it will be like a SWU, there will be a proper email reticketing confirmation. Better get that ASAP.

to these points, if the upgrade is done through the business.aa website does the reticket happen automatically and immediately? I applied some through the website, received upgrade confirmation email receipts, but the upgrade certificates themselves look as if they’re still unused and available.

So for the new program eligibility has anyone been able to become eligible having already had the Citi Business card? I know the facts state applying for and getting but that would seem ridiculous, leaving current card holders out. I also received not long after the announcement an email which seems to indicate that current card holders would be eligible under that card. Tried to get some info via email and chat feature, chat didn’t even work properly

Looking back at old trips upgraded with BXP1 certificates, I don’t see any ticket reissues like I normally do with systemwides. Never used BE for international upgrades.

i believe thats our experience as well. There is no new ticket number after the bxp3 was applied but I see a business class upgrade ..and seat on the ticket. I printed the receipt as well which shows a ticket number. I appreciate all the skepticism since there seems to be a lot of processing errors with upgrade tickets.

Similar question to fotoflyer's, but I put in for BXP8 admiral's club annual membership. Requested and confirmed on 12/14, but it still shows as "pending." FAQ says it should be processed 2-3 days. I was at the club a week after the request and it had not been processed yet. Anyone have any experience with how long this award typically takes to work through their system?

Had a Q on missing points. Flew a mixed AA/BA itinerary, returning a few days before Dec 15th. Only 1 of the 5 segments posted. The flight credit option seems to have been disabled - is there a way to get missing points?

Similar issue here. Redeemed 6 day passes on 12/13. 2 days later they weren't in my AA App so I inquired and they said 2-3 business days. Well, now it's been 13 calendar days and they're still not there. I think I'm looking in the right place - AA App --> Account --> Rewards. Not there. But I have looked just about everywhere else in the app to no avail.

I’m in the same boat. Sent a few flight credit requests on 12/14 and most went through the normal process within 72 hours, but two included an Iberia leg and those didn’t process correctly. It auto-resubmitted them with a new ticket number (said “ticket exchanged, resubmitted with new ticket number”) and those still say “waiting review”. I’ve sent emails but they’ve stopped replying. In my case, this is key to unlocking my ability to redeem my 4,000 points so I’m frustrated. I tried calling but meeting services told me there was absolutely no way of contacting anyone who works in that department.

It's unreal as to how poorly thought out this rollout is.

Applied a BXP1 to a ticket with available space before the 15th via the website.
it cleared- got email confirmation - have seat assignment in first.

the app shows that upgrade - Confirmed - “Complementary for Mr XYZ”

however on Dec 16th or 17th I got an email saying my outstanding certificate was converted back to points. (The cert I had used for this)

I still have my seat/upgrade intact in the app.

I suppose I won’t worry unless I can’t check in at T-24hrs (which was sometimes an issue w BXP1 upgrade). I don’t want to have to battle this out at the airport at midnight.

I’m waiting to see what happens with check-in - but it seems like maybe the glitch will result in some free miles if in fact I get my upgrade?

anyone with recent experience on this?

You can call meeting services (same number you would have used to confirm it unless you did it online when that functionality worked). The problem you may face, like others have (including me) is that you get the email confirming the upgrade from BusinessExtra showing the seat. But did you get an email showing the ticket was actually reissued? If not, you may find that you can't check in and you wind up in a middle seat by the lav. If you have the experience I did, the rep put me on hold when I inquired about my BXP3 cert being redeposited on 12/16 for a March 2024 flight that was confirmed by BE. She came back and told me they moved the seat back to coach because "the upgrade was never paid for" (despite me having a confirmation email). It went nowhere, but suffice to to say it sounds like the lack of any ticket re-issue is what caused my upgrade to get kicked out.

12/26 update. Received a confirmation email from BE this morning saying they had initiated the Admirals Club membership process and I would get a membership confirmation email directly from Admiral's Club.

Haven't got the email from the club yet, but the membership card is now available in my AA App. The membership date shows as 12/21, so a few days before I was notified and at that time BE still showed it as pending, so looks like there might be some lag between the two systems. Not surprising given they are probably processing the biggest volume of redemption requests they have ever seen. In the past the one day passes would show up within a day or two.
ows as 12/21, although the card and confirmation were not received until 12/26. Not the end of the world - I'm sure they are overwhelmed with request volume right now.

They said the best thing for me to do is to try to check in at 24 hours if it doesn’t allow me to check in then to give them a call back while they’re open that morning, that works for me and at least it’s a record that I tried here.

I have the same issue on 12 bxp1 upgrades. I have never had a bxp1 trigger a reissue, even when applying via phone. One schedule change so far, ticket reissued and upgrade still intact. One MS agent says all are fine, another says all look fine but not confirmed the way an MS agent would have confirmed.

same situation as you, my wife and I were both able to OLCI and travel smoothly on a pre 12/15 confirmed BXP1.

I can also confirm that applying a BXP1 or BXP3 does not trigger or require a reissue. I would leave the reservation as is without calling again, and chances are you will be able to OLCI just fine.

I have a business with four travelers. I have a business Citi card in the name of that same business. I exceed the spend threshold, although with the business card, I believe both the spend threshold and the employee levels are waived. The only thing I can think of that might be causing my failure is lack of an email address that matches the company name?
