Question about pricing AA codeshare on BA metal [answered]

I'm trying to price/book a flight from LHR to NCE in early June. If i put it in to search for flights/fares, I get an error (Something went wrong. We didn't find a match. Please choose different search options.). Checking ExpertFlyer, I see plenty of inventory. Happens on both the US site and EU (Amadeus). Any suggestions? Is this just call in and talk to an agent?

I dont think you can book the codeshare for LHR-NCE alone, it would have to be in conjunction with a TATL AA marketed (regardless of BA or AA operated) flight.

Oddly - I can get a quote for a mileage award. Of course, it is bookable on BA as a BA flight.

It isn't odd - by searching for an award it is an AA fare that is being issued

If booking on the AA codeshare, you would have to be booking a journey for which a fare exists - if you seach for AA fares for LHR=NCE on Expert Flyer, what do you get

AA might be able to book you on BA assuming BA ticket rules allow AA to issue and as long as AA wants to sell it

easiest method to book a European flight on BA would be to book directly on BA

I think its been this way for years. Whats the specific purpose of you trying to get your ticket from American Airlines specifically? Are you trying to use a flight /trip credit?

And if you have an AARP membership, you can save yourself some money by using their link. You can still put your AA FF number on the reservation.

Only for roundtrip flights originating in the U.S.

Why did I care? Just seeing what relative pricing would be and to evaluate whether it makes more sense to buy a ticket vs. do an award ticket. Sometimes I see AA pricing < BA and vice versa.

At the end of the day, I booked a BA award (10.5k avios + $12 per ticket) as the BA ticket was around $150 each and I had some Avios knocking around in my account.

This is the availability info, not fare info. AA doesn't publish any fares LHR-NCE from what I can see on EF. The AA codeshares are only bookable in conjunction with other flights, such as a transatlantic crossing. AA could sell you a ticket LHR-NCE since AA and BA are interline partners, but it would be a BA-marketed flight using BA fares.

Search:
Departing LHR on 06/01/26 for NCE
Flying AA
Show fares for cabins:

None of the US carriers have intra-EU fare filings or will let you book standalone revenue fares on their codeshared partner intra-EU flights. The fact that they let you book awards on partner intra-EU standalone flights is basically a red herring as they don't need fare filings for the awards (they are just fixed regionally based award mileage levels). Awards on partner metal will always be partner coded (and have the partners award booking class on them).
