Do you tip in the AC or FL?
I didn’t want to start another new thread but didn’t know where to put this.
I’ve been in the FL for over 7 hours due to delays and a cancellation, so I’ve had the opportunity to observe many things, including that a guy sitting near me left $2 next to his empty wine glass when he got up and left. Anyone else do that? (Another observation that I won’t start a new thread for: AA should consider a “By Invitation Only” sign on the FFD door so the agent inside doesn’t need to so politely turn so many people away.) |
I don't in the FL (unless in FFD), but I do in the AC if I'm ordering anything other than a beer/wine. A dollar per drink, I'd say.
|
Yes, anytime I order an alcoholic drink.
|
US- A Clubs, all the time. 20% but I don't drink from the free rail.
FLs: Would I tip myself? FFD never occurred to me, but I'll probably make a point to leave a $20 in the future just to make someone's day. |
At AC, every time I order a drink, free or not.....at FL I discreetly put a tip under my collected plates when I am leaving....or hand to person directly if someone comes by to pick up the plates...usually tip $5 per drink and $10 at FL...

Outlier here most likely, of the service industry...I leave my FFD team member $50, when warranted, and most times it is. YMMV!

AC bartenders, yes. FL is self-serve, so no.

Yes, that’s the type of tip I observed today — not a tip at the bar but rather at one of the seats not even in the bar or dining area. I had never seen that before, although it is a nice gesture.

$5 per Manhattan at the AC.
|
Yes to AC bartender & the guacamole stand person
Never in FL Yes in FFD |
Yes to bartenders and FFD, which the latter I had back in April at MIA and it left a lot to be deserved. Despite the food being barely above what you get in the AC the two waiters were fantastic so I spent $70 on a tip in which I could have saved by eating the same quality buffet food.

I always tip, it isn’t that you have to but I think if you have the funds to do so it is a nice thing to do, plus in the category of it is all about me I spend so little cash these days that it is a good place to get rid of one and five dollar bills!!
|
Bartended in AC. FFD somewhere between $20-50 depending how long I was there, what I ordered, and if it is one I frequent often with the same staff (JFK) or once in a blue moon (MIA).
|
ALWAYS!
I always tip $2 for AC drinks which are complimentary (Although I see most people leaving $1 which I think is fine). If I order non-complimentary cocktails I tip 20% minimum (especially the really good bartenders who know me and what I drink and have it ready for me once they see me walk up to the bar!). As others have stated in FL, I only tip if I'm in FLD.
