Because AA IT can't handle suffixes.

John Smith Jr (First/Last/Suffix) on all legal documents/accounts. AA's system cannot handle this and causes OLCI and many other things to fail. So, with AA I have to have it as John Smith Jr (First/Last with suffix as part of last name). With this config, everything seems to work except paying for award tickets (purchased tickets work fine, go figure). I have to put them on hold and then call in to ticket and pay the $5.60 fee.
