Inaccurate. You can just say you aren't comfortable with the connection and you don't believe you can physically make it. If the agent you speak to isn't helpful, hang up and call again.

PHX connection times are crazy. Pretty much always 30 minutes. I'm now seeing a lot of short connect at DFW which are a lot less likely to be made.
Of course with a 30 minute connection I always arrive at the furthest most gate but with a 1 or 2 hour it's always the next gate. Go figure. |
Again, its an algorithm. If MCT >= 25 minutes and a particular route pair happens to meet or exceed that time, AA's system will publish it. Its up to the passenger to accept that particular route or reject it and find another.
I have grown more accustomed to wanting longer connections (I'll wait it out in the AC or the Centurion). |

One other note. I was using two SWU. When he made the schedule change, he acted as if he was performing an act of god to reapply those same (now expired) SWUs to the new schedule and get me into First/Business. And quick with the sign off "dont forget to take the survey after the call". Thanks, bro. |
Strange. In the past anytime I've been rescheduled with a 30-45 minute connection AA has always been wiling to move me. Maybe agents now are being given other "direction."

It's not necessarily impossible. I've made several 39 minute connections at CLT. I start in RDU and they block it at between 70 and 80 minutes when it's only 30 minutes flight time. Even with taxiing and occasional ATC delays you're usually early.
PHX and CLT are the airports I'm most likely to chance a short connection at. |
