Miles Refund Question
 
Does AA refund the miles paid for the flight and any miles used to upgrade seats when cancelling a month in advance ?

So far I only see the miles I paid for the flight have been refunded.

iirc if you cancel the flight the miles use for seat assignments are non refundable.

For a voluntarily cancellation, you're SOL on any seat fees (paid or miles).

For an involuntary cancellation (AA canceled your flight, IRROPS leading to misconnect, schedule change results in missing MCT) you are eligible for a refund.
