What are you defining as "the past?" AAnytime Awards had a published chart and last-seat availability.

In the past, AAnytime awards still always were available on AA metal at a much lower redemption rate rate than what AA is offering now.

And occasionally, Business "Web Special" awards between the U.S. and Europe for even less!

AA seem to want you to book in the offseason. JFK to BCN is reliably available for 86K miles from now until April, and from November through January. Honestly I will likely bite on that kind of web special redemption at some point. In terms of non-stop availability on their own metal, UA and Delta are right around those levels as well

booked JFK-GRU AA J day after Christmas for 57.5k...system glitch? :p

I was looking for MIA-LHR and found several days in May and June at 57.5.I have to transit thru JFK but that is fine.In fact they had the exact day that I wanted so there is hope out there.

We decided to put our Portugal trip in April on hold due to CV, mostly just concern about getting stuck quarantined in a hotel somewhere or not able to get back into the US. Decided we would stay in the US instead and I was pleasantly surprised to find 5 MIA-LAX-SEA web saaver biz awards for our ride home, with MIA-LAX on the 77W, for only 23k per ticket. Also found SEA-DFW-EYW in economy with seats for all of us in MCE for only 7k per seat for the outbound. Not bad for an effective cost of 30k miles per RT per person.

Using Advantage Miles - Wat Up???!!!!

Like many of us, I haven't traveled since the pandemic. I just went online and booked 2 RT coach tickets (San - Msp) using my miles. The best I could do was 125,000 miles!!!!!!!!!!! This is crazy! Did AA recently jack up the mileage requirements??

That would be an AA aanytime award. Not an aasaver award
At that cost in ff miles did you consider paying cash or fly with another airline(cash ticket) or fly on a different date?

Often1 Apr 9, 2021 3:48 pm

What exact date and flight.

A quick look at that route shows most days at 12.5K with as low as 10K and as high as 30K.

Are you certain that you are not reading 12.500 for 125,000?

Whenever there are absurd rates, always look around, and see what others are charging.
