In my experience, this thread is akin to a tempest in a teapot. My wife had a paper voucher, so she called AA on a recent Friday morning. The agent booked the flights, and explained need to send the actual voucher to an AA office in Pensacola. This took about ten minutes. She mailed it the same day, and by lunchtime on the following Monday, my wife received the e-mail confirmation and ticketing info. If you closely examine the verbiage on the voucher it contains release language, which necessitates the need for the holder to place his/her signature on the reverse side on the document. This probably explains why AA continues to use paper for these documents. FWIW - Neither of us has status on AA. Next, AA will require telegraphs to cancel flights. PNR XXXXX *STOP* Cancel *STOP* |

Umm.. no. Release language can be handled without a direct signature, as it is with AA's other vouchers or any other airline that doesnt use ENIAC as their back end.

Use for taxes on award ticket or for award redposit fee?
FT gurus is there any way to use the paper voucher for either 1) taxes on AA award tickets and/or 2) AA Award redeposit fee?
Same questions for AA eGift Card (picked up thanks to AMEX). Lady at PLT desk politely said "no" to all the above but the rules she read off seemed to contradict each other in most places. |

Perhaps your right, perhaps not! However, you miss my key point, which is that using these vouchers is not a big deal, especially if the holder reads the terms on the voucher and then follows the instructions provided by the agent. It seems that some here were unable to do both.

Anybody else have a delay on a paper voucher crediting? I've got a ticket that's been pending since February 21st. Obviously, there's a global pandemic and I won't be calling them soon, but I do worry it got lost in the system.

Gift cards may not be used for other products or services (including upgrades, Admirals Club membership or day passes, in-flight purchases or enhanced seat products) or for any additional fees (including baggage fees, pet fees, unaccompanied minor fees, ticketing fees for transactions processed through reservations, or any taxes, fees or charges payable in connection with AAdvantageŽ award travel or American Airlines Vacations℠). |
