Availability of In-flight Entertainment on AA Provided Device
AA has a website on what movies are showing on each flight and how to view them on a personal device.
I have been unable to find a website showing whether AA provides a seatback or other device for specific flights. Mrs Jrobin currently does not own a device on which she would be interested in watching a movie and wants to decide whether to purchase a tablet for our trip. She would like to know how many of these sectors will have a provided device and on how many a tablet could be useful. Thus, I would certainly plan on not having individual IFE for any of the flights, and if you happen to get ot on one or both of your return flights consider it a nice perk. Only you can decide whether it's worth it to buy a tablet or smartphone for this trip. |

Your outbound is operated by a CRJ-900 followed by an A320. Neither if those will have individual seatback IFE.

That's primarily on the long-haul international flights where the aircraft doesn't have built-in screens in business class (i.e., the 767-300s). And possibly on some coast-to-coast/transcontinental flights that don't have it built-in. That seems to change with the times, not sure if they currently do. But none of the flights you list.

Keep it simple: BYO (including your own headphones). |
See https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...expansion.html.
The app must be downloaded prior to flight. The device canbe a smartphone, tablet, Kindle, etc. capable of receiving WiFi. |

I had understood that on some airlines Business passengers were provided with a tablet to use.

Keep in mind if you are on a gogo installed flight good luck on getting streaming. Most of the time I get no go on gogo. The AA installed satellite wifi will generally work fine but not all planes are equipped yet. I'd either download content beforehand or bring a book to read.

Have your wife buy a book. Much more enjoyable.

A tablet would be a significant investment to only use on four flights, although I use my iPad far more frequently than that.

Are you referring to streaming from sites like Netflix / Hulu or streaming from AA's content library loaded on the plane? The latter will work great on any of the AA Wifi platforms as it's all streaming locally, the external streaming realistically doesn't work well on any airline's wifi.
jrobin there should be streaming entertainment on all these aa flights. That said - if you have to bring your own device anyway, in addition to pre-installing the aa app, I would recommend that you also preload a couple movies or games that do not require any inflight WiFi in case the entire system is down and nothing can be streamed. |

Mrs. Jrobin is likely to buy a device now that she may otherwise not have purchased for some time, primarily for entertainment on these flights. She will be very pleased if the systems are all down as in your case, and she still has her own entertainment. |
