American outlines A321neo network in 2Q19
By Jim Liu, Routes Online link
Posted 23 December 2018 13:50
American Airlines during the weekend of 23DEC18’s schedule update filed planned Airbus A321neo routes, under aircraft code 32Q. Planned A321neo service is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019, with configuration of F20 Y176.
LAX – MCO 02APR19 – 02MAY19 1 daily (AA2361/219)
PHX – ANC 06JUN19 – 19AUG19 1 daily (AA1413/1372)
PHX – LAX 02APR19 – 02MAY19 1 daily (AA820/1895)
PHX – MCO 02APR19 – 02MAY19 1 daily (AA682/1022; Except 21APR19)
(Hawaii requires AA possess, test and secure FAA approval for 32Q ETOPS rating, possibly a reason for these inaugural overland routes?)
Eventually the A321neo is to replace all Hawaii service A321H and 757 aircraft, and deploy on non-JFK-LAX or JFK-SFO routes.
AA Airbus A321neo, c/o ch aviation
JonNYC: MCE is row 8-11, 17 (overwing exit), 27 (exit row, 5 seats in row,) 18-21 (D,E,F)
AA will install Viasat Ka-band inflight connectivity on the entire A321neo fleet.
According to David Seymour, American’s Senior Vice President of Integrated Operations, when they take the A321neo starting in January “that will actually serve as the platform to get certification for our refurbishment and standardization of the 321s... so we can go common configuration.” That effort will start in February.
LAA “32B”: F16 (38” pitch), Y165 including 38 MCE (181 total seat count)
LUS A321: F16 (36” pitch), Y171 including 18 MCE (187 total seat count)
(Note: Delta A321 has 192 seats.)
The seats have been described in the previous retrofit / CIP thread as
F will match the LUS 321 36” pitch, MCE and Y likely will be reduced to 737 MAX standards.

It will probably also feature a very high pax/bathroom ratio - those "shoulderwide" bathrooms - so narrow, you can't even fall down.

Luckily, I'm not required to fly AA, and plan not to anymore unless unavoidable. Thanks $Dougie$ for making the choice so easy for me.

Or they can just buy F or the equivalent of MCE on other airlines, or even just buy regular Y on Southwest or JetBlue.
I'm sure that the MCE seating will feature pitch similar to that in standard Y on Southwest and JetBlue.

The good: More seats in F.
The bad: Terrible pitch in F.

I think what makes the neos a "LR neo" is taking the option of two additional fuel tanks. And using the fuselage with two sets of overwing exits instead of doors 2L/R.

I cannot believe I’m saying this but the only thing that is going to stop the insanity is the feds passing minimum seat size and pitch regs or people stop flying. I’m sure neither will actually happen.

I believe that Southwest's standard pitch is 32," and that JetBlue's is comparable or a little more than that.
There will really be no difference between their standard seats and MCE on AA, except of course that Southwest will offer free bags for everyone and JetBlue will have IFE and offer a better selection of free snacks (and both airlines will have fewer surly staff who loathe their jobs).

Not sure if it's been publicly stated, but I can't see a way to fit a mix of 196 seats consisting of 20 36" F, an unknown number of 34" MCE and standard Y without reducing the Y pitch.
Just adding another row of F would remove a row of Y and take us down to 185 (20F/165Y) total seats. So, now how to convert 29 rows of 165 30-31" pitch Y seats into a mix of 176 MCE + Y seats? Reducing 2" from all 29 Y rows gives them about 58" more room to do this. If they want MCE, they will have to trim down the Y pitch. I don't imagine there will be many MCE seats with this seating volume. Maybe they will just continue to just be the exit and bulkhead rows.

Obviously, this won't be the case on the legacy A321s in the fleet.

calling it F doesn’t make it F, and with that pitch, it’s simply not F, they have just brainwashed everyone into accepting it as F.

This F will not have as much seat pitch as the LAA 321s (likely) but it isnt like half the Airbus fleet isnt LUS, which has no power, 12 seats and less pitch. So compared to this, 20F is a big improvement.
I'm not trying to paint this as a competitor to the Etihad Residence. Just compared to what it used to be on the LUS birds, we somehow actually got more and not less.

The ability to be able to get a 32B MCE aisle seat that wasn't a bulkhead at 2 weeks out on ORD-LAX along with Flagship Lounge on both ends, and a true 39 inch F on the 737 were two of the few things incenting me to keep Saphirre status.
I don't see myself renewing Saphirre in BA in 2019. I will end up about 55% DL/VS, 25% WN, 25% AA in 2018, I expect more like 65/30/5 in 2019.

I just want power on the LUS 321 fleet. So power really hasn't been announced?
