AAdvantage Members 35th Anniversary

While booking my next month of flights on American Airlines, I noticed the "member since" date on my AAdvantage home page and was struck by the August 16 part -- very close to today's date. In fact, exactly thirty-five years ago tomorrow, I joined AAdvantage: Tuesday, August 16, 1983. I was just a teenager and if my memory holds, I flew MCI-ORD as my first flight under the program.

In the interest of our online community, I started this thread for flyertalkers to celebrate their 35th anniversary of membership in AAdvantage.

I can't find that information on my account. And I took some time to look.

I CALLED AND GOT THE INFORMATION. I missed my celebration which was almost a year ago. I have been a member since late September, 1982. So I am about to celebrate 36.

Congrats on your longevity! I started with USAir, but my "member since" date has carried through with me.

<redacted>

For reference, AAdvantage launched on May 1, 1981, three months before MTV.

I passed 35 years on July 27. My number begins with 1 letter - the letter "D". Anyone know the latest date of AAdvanage numbers that were all digits and no letters?

My first AA flight was 8/27/89, PDX to YUL, via ORD, so this will be my 29th year in the program. Over that time, I’ve flown in every AA mainline aircraft type except for the F100 and MD-11. No doubt, the most BIS time has been logged in the MD-80s, which are decidedly not the most glamorous plane aloft, but nonetheless transported me to some of the most significant events in my life.

I cut my teeth on DC-3s o/a 1946 with AA, and I think I made the MD-a-lemon on SJC-NRT return. Other than that, all the DCs, CV-240, BAC-111, 707, 720, CV-990, 747-123, L-133 Electra, etc. I’ve flown on. MEX-MRY-SAT-ELP-TUS-PHX-LAX required an overnight and a day and a half. (I was very happy when MX put on the DH 106 Comet IV MEX-LAX reducing it to under 4:00.) Not about anniversary, but longevity as an AA pax. Seven decades of AAviation have been interesting.

I reached 35 years on March 1, 2018. My AAdvantage number begins with "B" followed by six numbers.
