American's Vision for LAX

Very informative column from Cranky Flier

He spoke with Suzanne Boda, AA’s Senior Vice President of Los Angeles about operations, construction, improvements for employees, customers, plans for the AA LAX terminals, and so on. And this quote: "The operation is working well for now, but the passenger experience needs to be better."

American’s New Senior Vice President of Los Angeles Gives The Airline’s Vision for the City

What does this mean for Jim Moses? He is no longer the AA leader at LAX?

LinkedIn shows this for him:

Jim Moses
Managing Director, Premium Services
American Airlines
June 2012 – Present (5 years 6 months)

As per AA Press please from May 2017:

Suzanne Boda SVP – Los Angeles; Promotes Joe Taney to SVP – Hub and Gateway Operations

Jim is actually the MD for the LA market. I don't think he updates his linkedin regularly - many senior managers don't :p

I am guessing he will now report to Suzanne.

Bulldoze T4 and T5 and start over... maybe T1, T2, T3, all terminals while at it.

And do what? Build the same mistakes over again.

T2/T3 are BEING essentially rebuilt by DL. T1 is going through it now. Short of a major airfield change there is little left to do but midfield concourse and redevelop existing terminals

Exactly what LAWA should be doing in a perfect world. Demolish everything mid-field and build a centralized terminal there (similar to DEN). Parking could be underground.

Maybe part of their vision is forced dieting of passengers by not catering...

Less listeria.

Too soon?

Well, should anyone take the time to read Cranky's article and interview, you'll see the list of things AA has determined were in seriously bad shape, the things they plan to spend money on along with the pretty large efforts by LAX.

QUOTE:

"Oh, And the Operation Matters

The baseline for being able to compete requires an airline to run a good operation. The situation in Philly was far more dire when Suzanne arrived there, but American has had its struggles at LAX. She didn’t mince words when I asked what was on her list of priorities. “First of all, improving the operation. That was number one because you can’t run a bad airline and continue to have your customers be loyal supporters.”
