Well, would you prefer to be paying higher fares to the places you are traveling?

Regards

You are doing nothing wrong. Your EQD% is higher than your EQM%.

Your current spend rate is $.178 / mile, you only need to spend $.12 a mile to meet the EQD requirement.

If you think you are spending too much (more than others posting here) it is the routes you are traveling. I suspect your travel is mostly domestic.

Those with high EQM and low EQD are flying those $350 (before taxes) RT flights from LAX to Europe.

1879 EQD and 27,544 EQM so far. Being required to take the lowest fare for work travel hurts when that lowest fare is $290 (before tax) for TATL travel...

I have a personal trip on MH J coming up that will hopefully help the EQD drought.

I am still trying to figure out the new plan in some aspects. I fly MIA-MAD on a flight sold/code shared by AA, and operated by IB. Points just were credited and this is the message that I don't understand :"Method Fare- exception applies".

MIA - MAD

Method: Fare - exception applies EQM 8,848 1 EQD 1,500 Base miles7,500 Bonus miles. 14,000
Elite : 9,000
Promo: 5,000Open promo bonus 21,500

Anyone know what the Fare- exception is?

Flew business R class, not sure where the Fare- exception applies....

I just flew for the first time this year (Had to take a *huge* exam in February and have been studying=No travel). My ticket cost me nearly $500 and I got $230 in spend. At this rate I'd have to buy over $10,000 in tickets just to re-qualify for PLT. That's simply crazy. Sorry AA but I'll be a "free agent" when my status expires next year.

Spot on! I did two of those in Jan / Feb to use up last year's SWUs before they expired. They were good for getting work done and for not looking very extravagant, but not for EQD earnings.

The key question (to me) is whether I can qualify with two more PE TATLs and one more economy (but upgraded with 2017 SWUs) TATL - that will leave me two SWUs that will have to be used in January 2018.

But two cheap upgraded TATLs will still need 2 PE TATLs to reach the EXP targets. I think I need some expensive domestic trips.

I think the challenge will be EQMs, which looks like you had a very good start if flying SFO to TATL twice already this year. One can always make EQD if they have the funds, one may not always have the time to make EQMs.

Or do like a lot of us, find cheap tickets with AA partners. They earn EQD based on distance*% based on fare class.

$1600 RT J tickets US-SIN on QR result in around $4700 EQD.

I keep EXP (already earned for next year) and DL DM status not because of AA/DL flights but because of their partners. EQD has just ensured that I fly partner fares instead of AA/DL, even if I end up being on an AA/DL flight because of codeshare.

Prove it. Even on a trip to LHR (which has about the highest taxes I can think of), the base would be about $300 on a $500 fare. In other words, I call BS.

I suspect he just hasn't realized that they post per segment, rather than per ticket.

4219 EQD 33211 EQM and 12 EQS.

should be able to make AA exec plat with my QR D, A and R ticket, UL and JJ in D class and some cheap AA flight. My CX BA and LA JL D class will credit to AS to requalify for AS MVP 75k gold due to extra 100% bonus.

I am not even sure if I will able to use any of this year swu because i have many paid J tickets and dont seem to have time to other long haul trips.

This is the fastest I've ever qualified for EXP, so I can't find fault with the new program personally.
