AA to oneworld award change question.
 

I know the speculation is that post devaluation any changes to an all AA itinerary can only be changed date wise to another all AA itinerary as opposed to any one world partners as its not a one world ticket.

My dilemma. I don't have much flexibility in my travel and the primary preferred dates are unavailable. There is a secondary week that works, but the return itinerary is all AA flights available.

Would you think the following would work. Book the return on a date that's not good for me, but includes one world partners. Shortly after, change the dates to the secondary week that works which would be fully on AA.

Should my preferred dates open up with one world partner, should I be able to book them since the original booking was a one world booking (even though the prior date change made it all AA).

Just trying to wrap my head around the new rules...

Is this a cash or award (AA miles) trip? :confused:
