Etihad Not much of a OneWorld partner

I am an EXPlt and have flown on a number of OneWorld partners, JAL and CP and they have always recognized my status. Not on Etihad. No priority boarding or lounge access. They had my AA number on my boarding pass so that was not missed but still boarding with group 5. I will need to look for another airlines to the middle east.

That's because Etihad is not, in fact, in oneworld. If you want a Middle Eastern partner, your only option is Qatar.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, pschnett. Even though Etihad has frustrated you, keep it in mind as a redemption opportunity. It has an awesome F cabin and solid C cabin. I'm really happy it is an AA partner.

I should clarify. When I went out to AA site I found codeshare flights on Etihad. I should have checked that they were not a partner. Luckily my return is on BA to LHR and then a System Wide Upgrade back to ORD

Etihad is a partner, just not a one-world partner. You can earn and redeem AA miles on Etihad, but there are no status benefits. Here is a list on non-oneworld Airline Partners:

Air Tahiti Nui
Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air
Cape Air
EL AL
Etihad Airways
Fiji Airways
Gulf Air
Hawaiian Airlines
Jet Airways
Seaborne Airlines
WestJet

Alaska Airlines is the only non-oneworld partner where AA status yields benefits.

More information may be found on the AA Airline Partners web page.

Note: If you flew an AA code share flight on Etihad metal, you will earn elite bonus miles.

No worries.

Codeshares (flying EY as AA) earn miles, etc. but offer no other perquisites or benefits. Some are granted based on class of service flown, in accord with Etihad policies.

Anyway, you've arrived here, and the reason I stick around is it's a veritable treasure chest of information making our travels better.

AA dropped the El Al partnership last year.

Yes, you should not have assumed Etihad was on oneworld or would entitle you to oneworld benefits.

Etihad flights operated by AB... miles or not?

Would Etihad flights operated by Air Berlin grant miles? Reading the text on this page (https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...nes/etihad.jsp) makes me think they won't. The reason I remain to have some hope is as AB is a OW partner. Question is regarding EY1997.
