I understand that if you have both a Citi and Barclays card - you get 5% miles back from each card, however, I have a Citi card with no annual fee, which is not the Platinum Select product and thus, the 10% miles back feature is not offered on that card. In that case, will I be getting 5% back from Barclays and 0% from Citi or would Barclays credit the full 10% because the Citi product doesn't offer that feature?

I find this interesting because I received an email from Barclays saying that I'll continue to get the 10K anniversary miles, but now I don't see that as a benefit. I'll have to call and find out.

To clarify, I'm going by what was promised by mail that I'll get the anniversary benefit; it doesn't show when clicking on Benefits on the site, which I take as a listing of World MasterCard benefits.
So we're in the same boat. I'm sure we'll have to take their word for it because I have yet to see anything regarding this with the new Aviator card even if certain people were grandfathered in. If the 10K anniversary miles go away, I have little incentive to keep the card versus the Citi card. I'm not worried about it since Barclay specifically said I get to keep that benefit, but I feel that similar promises have been said in the past with the elimination of a product only for the "grandfathered" benefit to eventually be phased out. |

Why not? It's a completely different card/system? Hell on US the same cards were even stackable many people had 2 or 3 or more Barclay's cards and got 10k-30k EQMs every year. Where does it say I can't get 10k EQM from Citi and 10k EQM from the Barclays Aviator?

I think there might be some confusion here between A) 10% AA award rebate and B) 10K EQM bonus after reaching a minimum spending amount.
A) The Citi AA Platinum, Barclaycard Aviator Red and Aviator Silver cards offer this benefit with a maximum of 10K AA miles back per calendar year. The 10K combined rebate is tied to your AA FFP account, so having 1, 2, or even all 3 of these cards will not get you past the annual cap. B) The Citi AA Executive and Barclaycard Aviator Silver cards both offer 10K EQM after a minimum spend of $40K in a calendar year. It is not yet known if meeting the spending requirements on each of these two cards would trigger both of the cards to individually deposit the 10K EQM into a single AA account. |

I don't have any other Barclays card. Since Barclays uses -- albeit only as a back-up to chip & signature -- an actual chip & PIN setup, I guess I'll need to keep the Red Aviator card for a while. Or at least for as long as I think I'm going to encounter stand-alone, unconnected-to-anything-on-line kiosks in European train stations.

Does that matter? You get free bags if you have status.

I vaguely recall something back in October stating the 10K miles (which I did receive in 2/15), but they could come back and say "it isn't lifetime, and only offered as long as we hold the US Mastercard, and not the AA Aviator." |
