One or multi-stop, single flight numbers: through / direct flights (master thd)
Is there a list anywhere of two sector single number flights AA has and when those flights operate?
eg: AA2046 SEA-DFW-STL except Sunday from 21 Aug AA874 SEA-ORD-BOS daily until Aug 20 etc |
AA 154 NRT-ORD-BOS is probably the oldest one I've known for years

AA1247 FLL ORD LAX
If anyone else flies such routes and credits miles to AA do you get (in the above example) FLL-ORD + ORD-LAX or do you get FLL-LAX? The difference is about 2000 miles I think |

My experience has been, that you get 1 flight segment, and the official mileage for, in your example, FLL-LAX.
That's why I used to avoid 2401 DFW-SFO because it stopped in LAX, and I always need segments (who doesn't?) (Exceptions post here................. :D) |

Fll-lax unless you book it as 2 segments. And it's less than 600 miles difference.
What do you mean by 2 segments? With a stopover in ORD? |

Even if you book it as two-segments via Multi-city, AA may merge it into one direct flight. The sure-fire way to break it is to book two separate tickets.
|
Even if you change aircraft because the flights require a change of gauge, AA will generally treat a through flight as if it were a nonstop flight (e.g. the old AA (was it AA 38?) SFO-DFW-ZRH, requiring an aircraft change at DFW, would render one segment and SFO-ZRH mileage.)
Buying separately MIGHT result in two segments and full mileage, but it also might not. |
in current timetable:
Code:
AA1017: FLL => DFW => SEA |

For international flights, one could have a "gateway" stopover at either of the two North American cities served by the flight; and 2. If redeeming BA Avios for award travel on AA, BA charges for each flight. Booking connecting flights, as opposed to a "direct" flight, will often result in paying more Avios for the award. |

There are two uses that I can think of: 1. |
You could download the timetable and look for anything that shows more than 1 stop.
As for the mileage credit, I have called AAdvantage Customer Service and had them split it into separate segments. |
