LGA / New York LaGuardia Concourse C Admirals Club Construction
News from a trusted source:
Plans have been developed to build a second Admirals Club in Concourse C below Gate C3 and C5 across from Au Bon Pain. Design process started this past January, finalized design and constructions plans last month, and now waiting for the Port Authority of New York to approve permits to start construction. Completion of this club is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012. Although it will be a significantly smaller club, it will provide all the amenities and services of all the other Admirals Clubs.
In the meantime, the TSA works with AC members for access into the Concourse D Admirals Club when holding a ticket on American Eagle. Simply show your boarding pass and Admirals Club card, and they will allow you to go through security. Please keep in mind you will have to clear security a second time when departing from Concourse C.
This also means that the shift to all-Eagle for LGA-BNA is permanent, so thank God for the CR7s and their 9 FC seats.

Once the new Concourse C club is opened, both threads will be closed and a new combined thread for LGA Concourse C and D Admirals Clubs will be opened.

Good news! (I suppose.) I'd rather that AA just negotiate again for approval to build that corridor connecting concourses C and D behind security. But I guess a second club is better than nothing.
The unfortunate thing is that it means AE is expecting to be operating flights out of Concourse C for the long run.... I wish AA/AE could move all operations over to D, and eventually expand D.

How would AA house the existing AA/MQ operation in the D concourse? If that were to happen that would mean that AA has dramatically scaled back the operation. LGA does not have much space to begin with, so how would you propose the port authority expand D?

+1 Hard to believe that they can't do something over that short distance so folks don't have to be concerned with security delays. Fortunately LGA TSA is amongst the more efficient in the system.

Does "below" mean it is on tarmac level? That could be very interesting if there are windows and a good use of available space.

Has AA actually announced anything yet? This would be good news. A small AC like the G Concourse at ORD would be very welcomed. Maybe we can get soda fountains like G Concourse.

I'm glad to see the AC in terminal C but there really should be an airside connection shuttle between D & C. I once had to be rerouted from a non-stop Eagle flight to ATL to a connection through MIA due to a cancellation. I almost missed the MIA flight due to having to clear D security and even using the premium lane.

I can't understand why the PA won't do something like USAir at DCA that has a shuttle running between terminals every 10 minutes. For LGA, it would just need to be an agent escorting paxs as the distance between the two concourses on the tarmac is like a 2 minute walk.

Good to know. I was third in line out of about 50 pax and there was only one agent handling reroutes.

It's a disgrace that AA does not provide an airside shuttle and forces its Admirals Club members and guests into one or possibly even two extra, unnecessary interactions with TSA.

This is indeed good news, especially with the move to all CR7s BNA/LGA (my most common route, including tomorrow). I haven't been holding my breath for an airside connection between C/D so this is fair compromise IMHO, at least for AC members. Guess I'll renew afterall

AA hasn't announced it yet but it's no secret among those who work @ LGA. I posted when I was able to get a decent amount of detail.
I think it's the best solution under the circumstances -- running a shuttle on the tarmac between C and D would be a security nightmare and it would get called out in no time as wasteful and reserved for "elites." Building a walkway bridge seems like the most straightforward but there's a gate in D right after security so I'm not sure where it could be placed. And it's still better than "the Admirals Broom Closet" -- the former crew lounge they gave us at BNA in 2003 when they shut the AC down there for a few years.
