Can I use Alaska miles to upgrade?

I just moved over to AA from United 1K, and am trying to come up to speed on the programs. I am traveling to Ireland on American next week, which will complete my Platinum challenge. I'd like to try to upgrade my seat, but I don't have any AA miles. I do have Alaska miles though. Is there anyway to use those to upgrade? Or can I change them into AA miles somehow?

Thanks in advance!

No, you can't use Alaska miles. And it doesn't matter because you can't use AA miles to upgrade on Aer Lingus anyway. As for completing the Plat Challenge on the Ireland flight, you're aware presumably that it will only count if you're using the AA flight number on the EI flight, right?

The only way I know of for you to convert AS miles to AA miles is through points.com, but you will lose most of the value in the process. As was pointed out in the previous post, AA miles won't get you an upgrade on your flight anyway.
