Mysterious Promo codes: AA100/AA200/AA400

This is a spinoff from another thread by Parisbeba , where they reported that AA200 was a promo where you fly 24 segs and you receive 15k bonus miles (any fare except Q/O/S/N).

Another poster reported AA100/200/400 were valid codes to register for to.

Naturally I registered for all 4 codes... but now I want to know what exactly I registered for.

I called AAdv CSR just now, but it was after-hours (stupid time zone change! :p), so I'll call back tomorrow and post results... But if anyone else received these promos or knows what they are, please share!

[WATCH THIS SPACE FOR UPDATES]

Aren't the AA100/200/400 codes part of the "Help AA's Balance Sheet" program where only half the usual miles/points/segments flown are credited to elite status? ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

Anyway, am looking forward to your results.

JDiver Apr 8, 2006 6:54 pm

ROTFLMAO! This is worthy of its own thread, next April 1! :D

As a minor correction, AA200 is the code that Parisbeba and others (including myself) have received. Now that we have the T&Cs of the AA100 promo posted, the missing codes in question appear to be AA300 and AA400.

It looks like they may all be a part of the same promotion, with some folks targeted for more miles per segment.

IceTrojan Apr 8, 2006 7:15 pm

Thanks venk for the info on AA100, and nako for the correction.

So what happens to the people who registered for multiple promos? (Probably just defaults to the one they were targeted for.... IF they were targeted).

So my 61 segs would get 64,000 miles on AA100 and 33,500 miles on AA200... had they NOT BEEN IN Q/O! :( :( I'm starting to wondering if I really want to know anymore :p

Odd... I got the emails, and each of the 4 had a different code listed.

Such wishful thinking going on in my head right now.....

I signed up for all four as well but mine has each of the respective promotions on each separate e-mail, not all the same.

mktozd Apr 8, 2006 8:04 pm

This seems like an awesome promo.....hope that it works

skye1 Apr 8, 2006 9:13 pm

Some of my FLY3/DAL/DFW promo flights are in qualifying classes....this could be very cool if you can get bonus miles for both promos.

ZeppoX Apr 9, 2006 2:45 am

Targeted perhaps to people who do not have Citi AAdvantage credit cards, since the msg is promoting apply for one?

ExpAAt Apr 9, 2006 3:22 am

Another mystery code: EU100 - earn 15k bonus miles

One of my colleagues received a promo email for an 'EU100' offer. Any trans-Atlantic flight in F, A, J, D, I, Y or B between now and July 31st earns 15k bonus miles as far as I can tell.

I didn't receive the promo email invitation to this offer, but I was able to register for it anyway.

How fun... I just registered for it too. BTW, EU200 doesn't work :p

Hoc Apr 9, 2006 10:00 am

How interesting. The system says I'm already registered for all of the codes -- and I never registered for a single one before.

ejm Apr 9, 2006 10:48 am

just successfully registered for all 4 AA and the 1 EU - got conf emails for each of them individually

We will see what happens - could be good

It seems to imply that Q, S, N and O fares are not eligible for standard AAdvantage mileage accrual, whatever that means.

I took it to mean "Q/S/N/O (el cheapo fares) and fares that don't accrue miles (award tix, consolidator, non-rev).

The "other" seems extraneous.

Exactly. That's the word that bothers me. Poor command of the language, or a Freudian slip? Time will tell. :)

IceTrojan Apr 9, 2006 2:18 pm

Just got off the phone with AAdv CSR, and some interesting tidbits:

-He couldn't pull up the info on AA300 and AA400, saying they must be super-special offers. He did state that he "knew" AA300 was specifically for GLD, and AA400 for PLT.

-For EU100, he pulled the terms up, and it said that one "earns a 15K bonus for every two transatlantic segments." He even stated that the italics emphasized that part on his screen.

-He said that if I could register for all these promos (he could see them on the screen), then I am eligible (didn't even bat an eyelash at the fact that they may be in conflict with each other). Of course, I made sure to ask that he made a note in my record stating that he told me I was eligle for ALL those promos. He also thanked me for flying AA, since AA seems to think so highly of me (uh oh, is this a red flag? ;))

This guy didn't seem like the "I should hang up" kind of fellow. Anyone else wanna call and ask to be sure?

Hmm... I'm definitely not PLT and my GLD is stuck in some sort of strange limbo-land (long story that will probably bring me here asking for advice soon if AA CS can't get it fixed shortly), but had no apparent trouble registering for AA300 and AA400, whatever they are.

oec Apr 9, 2006 2:54 pm

I'm EXP and was able to register for all four, so none are restricted to "just" GLD or PLT. Maybe they're for GLD and up. Who knows.

I still don't know what AA300 and 400 are for, but if I start seeing bonus miles pour in I'll be sure to let everyone know. :)

Eu200

So I registered for the EU100 promo, and received a confirmation email saying:

'Thank you for registering for the EU200 promotion on AA.com'

Does anyone know what this promo is?

Odd... I tried EU200/300/400 yesterday, and it didn't let me. My confirmation email for EU100 stated just that.

Are we registering for promos that AA isn't ready for yet? :D

Keeping track, I got the following response as an EXP:

AA100, AA200, AA400, EU100 -- Success

EU200 -- The promotional code you entered is not valid.

Just registered successfully for AA100, 200, 300, and 400 +EU100.

For us land-locked folk in the Hearltland, the AA promotions can be very good as we connect to most everywhere other than ORD and DFW.

E Apr 10, 2006 9:01 am

I am lowly NOTHING on AA and was able to register successfully for AA100/200/300/400 and EU100.

But per the previous post about it, you have to be in a fare class of B or better, correct? I'm assuming you're leaving out that here as it's been posted, rather than giving us the (great) news that it applies to every two transatlantic news in every fare class. Correct?

Affirmative.

What is the fair heiarchy of B (full fare economy) versus I (discount business)? An I fare can be cheaper than B or Y, but does that mean it is subordinate and thus these special offers would not apply?

SFGal Apr 10, 2006 1:56 pm

Just signed up for all 4 promos. Have 10 segments in the next month so I'll be curious to see what happens!

Price matters not.

Always.

Even if there is a mistake $39 business fare... it's still a business fare. The rules are they as long as they are F, P, A, J, D, I, B, and Y. It so happens that all paid F fares (F/P/A) and J fares (J/D/I) are listed.

Hence... price doesn't matter.

Here's the Skinny

Okay, FTers, here's the skinny on the mystery promos.

All four of the AA bonuses (AA100-AA400) are target audience promotions. The codes will be accepted for registration, but a separate code must appear in your account in order to receive the bonus.

The AA300 is basically a gold challenge for regular members. The AA400 is a platinum challenge for gold members--no bonuses.

HTH,

ExecDeskRep
