Does ANA block Seat Assignments?
 

Does ANA block out certain seats in Biz and open them up at a later point or only for status members?

Trying to assign seat but many seats appear to be unavailable.

A number of airlines block seats for their high-value to top tier customers. Sometimes they are released at T-24 or at airport check-in. Varies by airline based on my experience.

They definitely block 5A on the 77W, as well as 5D/F (bassinet) and probably 7D/7F too; I've snagged 5F at OLCI (T-24) before with no status though so that's one data point.

It is then not a block that requires more than.*G to release. I booked 5A for a NRT LAX trip in both directions Was available at time of booking. Booking class Z.

Sort of, a lot of airlines block seats for their own elites only. So I thought it worth pointing out that NH is more generous

As *G, I am able to select every seat in business.

They also usually block 1A in F.

With regards to 5D/F and 7D/F, the call center in Japan can open up these seats to Diamonds though they are seemingly blocked. However, you may be punted if someone needs a bassinet.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

ANA seems to block the last economy row in left (40~42 A/C) in old 2-4-3 configured 77W.
When are these seats released?

I've requested an upgrade just wanted to avoid the middle/window seat. (I really need an asile seat for longhaul)
Now my request is cleared and miles are withdrawn. But If I can get an aisle seat, I want to cancel my upgrade to save my precious miles.
Does this work with blocked seats?
