I don’t believe they will actually be flying those same routes, at least not all of them. From what I understand they won’t even be in Skyteam, they would be starting out with no alliance.

These are the destinations, pretty much the same as today, though they aren’t even selling long haul flights yet. Also keep in mind there are no connections to any other cities since they have no codeshares or alliance.

I had a call with MM customer service this morning. They are forbidden from issuing any ticket that starts with 055. Thus, no award ticket, even with Skyteam, with departure date after Ocotber 14th.

Some good news about ITA and SkyTeam:
https://www.executivetraveller.com/n...eam-membership
But no clue about what will happen with MilleMiglia. Could MM be bought by a private entity separate from ITA, and ITA is then allowed to use it as their FFP? In theory that would comply with the EU's decision of not allowing ITA to own MM.
As for SkyTeam: while newly-minted ITA chief executive officer Fabio Lazzerini considers alliances as "fundamental" to the airline's future, saying "the world of airlines is a world of alliances", ITA's membership of the Netherlands-based alliance can't be taken for granted. ... Executive Traveller can confirm that SkyTeam is now in discussions with ITA on a path forward for when the ITA begins flying in mid-October. ... A spokesperson for SkyTeam tells Executive Traveller the alliance "is currently partnering with Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA), the new carrier replacing Alitalia as the national airline, to explore ways to continue providing SkyTeam’s 700 million customers with seamless connectivity to key Italian destinations."
