Just returned from Alyeska Resort at Girdwood, just outside of Anchorage. This small village ski resort was great. The weater was perfect, mid to low 20's and tons of snow. Went snowmobiling and dog sledding. Expense but worth the $200 each. Did some driving about, but roads while fairly clear had some ice. Hotel.com provided the typical $120 all inclusive room rate (rack inclusive was about $220). Got a good $500 deal on NWA and used 30K FF to upgrade to First (worth it on the 7 hour total flights). Girdwood had some ok food, but Kincaids near the Anchorage airport was excellent!

I agree completely! Double Musky can be very crowded so you have to plan your arrival sometimes. Is the Bakery still at Girdwood?

Thanks for the good news about The Bakeshop!

OldPenny learned to ski at the old Alyeska Resort a long, long time ago. Skiing style, falling down mountain, but it sure is pretty up there. Ski to the sea!

I am short so it would be powder over my head!

I remember one winter on Alyeska we actually did have powder over my head at the top of one of the ski lifts.

Enjoy it! My Alaska days were Pipeline. Miss the place as it was. 1959 pre-dates even OldPenny. I hope to retire there with a view of Turnagain. (hint).
