You have a very high upgrade rate considering your status! Are you sure your'e not going to just keep going for 75k this year? :D Also the lukewarm snickerdoodles are common on the supper flights. Those flights don't serve hot meals. I think the procedure for most flights is they heat up the meals and put the cookies in after just to warm in the residual heat, but they don't have that on late evening flights, so they end up just putting them in the over for a few minutes and not long enough to really heat up.
I just read last night that they will be changing the menus again soon, if they haven't already. -J. |
Had the newish menu this morning SJC-HNL (sorry, no pics). Ordered the scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage plate. The eggs were really creamy and actually quite good, and a it was a decent portion of sausage which was also tasty. It came with a few sliced potatoes on the side. What I noticed is that there was no Ellenos yogurt or fruit bowl - instead, it was now a bowl of yogurt, with a applesauce consistency pineapple sauce on top, with 2 slices of kiwi stuck into that. There was a tiny paper cup of chocolate granola to mix in on the side.
Got a snickerdoodle cookie mid flight and the snack basket about an hour out. |

Good, but not great steak & shrimp on today’s IAD-SAN flight. Steak was pretty thick, moist, and medium-rare, but mostly room temperature (I prefer at least warm). Not super tender, but definitely not tough. Nuts and slice of French bread not warmed. Not a fan of black and green olives in with the quinoa and cherry tomato halves. |

What do you like better, the BBQ bacon burger or the jerk chicken?

I haven't had either and didn't see anyone post about the jerk chicken. A quick Google search turned up this...complete with some pics. I opted for the jerk chicken, seeing that the steak and shrimp was getting a lot of mediocre reviews on here.

That dessert seems rather cagey!

Southwest Ranchero Eggs on SAN-IAD this morning. Good service and a pass of the snack basket before landing. The egg dish was very slightly spicy and I enjoyed it.

First time offered the “Peruvian steak and Rice”. Others thoughts on this choice ?
Next time will choose the chicken or burger. |
Pulled pork breakfast scramble, IAD-SEA this morning. Very good execution - the pork was tender; the eggs were creamy, as promised in the description. The croissant was mediocre, but my expectations there were low. Friendly service; snack basket went around before landing with verbal encouragement to "take as much as you want", which is always appreciated.

Nov. 9, 2023 AS 274 ANC-SEA
This was what the F FA called the "Intermittant Fasting" flight. The flight should have been catered at SEA. The FA's were told it would be catered at ANC. AS has not had catering at ANC in DECADES!! So, no food onboard for either cabin heading South. The F FA was dealt a bad hand and made the best of it. She explained our situation while still at ANC and brought levity to what could have an upsetting situation. Once in the air, all drink requests were filled promptly and the Snack Basket came out until there was nothing left. Our FA has over 40 years with AS and her positive attitude before and during the flight turned hat could have been an awful flight into one that was actully enjoyable. Note already sent to Alaska Listens praising her positive attitude and care for her PAX!!! |

Both turned out to be quite tasty, it was on the ORD-SFO flight. I had mostly the BBQ bacon burger, my wife mostly the jerk chicken. She had actually ordered the mediterranean lentils, but Alaska was out of it, so she got some miles as an apology.

Since I wasn't hungry, I only had a very little taste. Some kind of tomatoey sauce with sour cream? According to the FA, it is meant to be like a Bruschetta, which explains the lonely piece of French bread with no butter or olive oil. Also on the menu was a BBQ burger that sounded okay, although I didn't see anyone getting it. Seemed like about 75% of the cabin had the Steak and Shrimp (my entire row did).
