PDX Concourse A Closure and Relocation of Horizon to the End of C
From airliners.net so not verified
PDX TCORE update:
As part of TCORE, we’re closing Concourse A and modifying and expanding Concourse
B. We will relocate Horizon operations to the end of Concourse C which will allow for
the early abandonment of Concourse A. This will allow construction activities on
Concourse-B extension to occur and be isolated from passenger processing and travel.
When construction begins on Concourse B later this fall, Horizon will move operations
to the end of the C Concourse, which steers travelers away from the construction area
and provides more shopping and dining options than are currently available on
Concourse A. The relocation of Horizon operations to Concourse C is currently
scheduled for October 2019 so that it avoids the peak travel season at PDX.
The Hoffman/Skanska team continues to develop and review schedules to determine
early enabling project opportunities and potential tenant impacts. The Concourse B
work is progressing through 90% design; the remodeled and expanded Concourse B is
expected to open in early 2021.

PHX has 2, 3 & 4 while 1 terminal is nowhere to be found. Demolished in 1991 after 38 years.

I heard someone talking about this last week. This will make the end of C a giant mess. I'm not sure how they're going to park all those airplanes down there, unless they're going to mix the Q400s at gates up and down B & C.
T1 is still there. Sorta. It's actually a parking lot right now.
If you look at the satellite photos of PHX, you'll see the concrete ramp area, just west of T2. The original tower is at the south side of the airport, located over by Swift Aviation.

Yay! A Dungeon to be replaced by B Dungeon! Sure wish those sketches won't reflect the actual interior layout and seating but this is the Port of Portland.
Perhaps the bit of silver lining is only 6 aircraft positions for ground loading at B. That's quite the cut from the current number. Hopefully that means E175s will be at jet bridges elsewhere with only dwindling Q400s out there. Still looks like the same single sided walkway design so it's longer than it would need to be if using both sides of the walkway (like SEA).

Oh great. Twice as long as a walk from security to the end of C vs. A.
What they *should* do as part of the new B terminal is add a MAX-passenger only TSA screening point. That would be a great way to encourage using mass transit. Tons of pax who don't need to interact with anyone landside before going airside.

as one who has originated PDX exactly 5x in the past five years (twice returning a rental car, twice via hotel shuttles, and once via MAX), I don’t really have a stake in this debate, but I wholeheartedly agree with this “why limit it?” premise
