VX metal - AS status - book the VX code or the AS code?
Title says it all ... I am MVPG, am about to book my first VX flights (ever!). Any particular benefits or loss of benefits if I book the AS coded flight vs the VX?
Is it correct that even as MVPG, I will still need to pay for bags AND an aisle seat?
Thanks FT & Missy!

They did but only for airlines with Virgin in their name. AS apparently does not fit that description. 😀

For MVPG, booking through VX site loses the Gold change fee waiver.
No preferred seating on VX metal regardless if its coded AS or VX. Turns out they do have regular seats that can be selected but exit row and closer up will cost you either way

Everything on AS ticket stock is eligible. Allegedly even if you use the call center and it includes United, its still eligible. I'm not sure if you can use the credit yet to book VX opeareted if you deposit the credit in the wallet

I apologies for hijacking this thread, but I came here wondering the same thing..
I'm an AS MVP, so if I flew VX, there's really no perks to it? at least for now?

Priority boarding, so you're at least assured room for your carry-on. And, as I mentioned upthread, it sounds like you DO get free bags if you check them in at the counter, but you won't be able to pre-arrange them online without paying.

So here is my head scratcher: Can I book VX on the AS site to get the Gold change waiver, and then change the FFN (presumably with VX) to my Elevate Silver number, then select an exit row and list for an MCS upgrade?

according to the above artical, does that mean, after Jan 9th, VX Elevate will be no more and that they will all be converted to AS Mileage Plan, so the dynamic of everything will change?
Everything is clear as mud for me at the moment.

The price. Check the fares on both AS and VX sites before booking.
VX is setup like a Codeshare for reservations for right now, certain fare classes aren't available outside VX. Seems to be sale fares only, same itinerary on a LAX-FLL trip was about $100 more on AS.
Both AS and VX use Sabre but slightly different flavors. System rules need to be loaded and tested. Getting two databases to talk to each other that never did before at this level doesn't happen overnight.

Until that shows up in writing somewhere (as official policy), I wouldn't show up with checked baggage expecting a random VX to waive the fee...some may do it just as a courtesy, but I would count on it. The lack is of free baggage for AS elites when flying VX is probably one of the most glaring omissions when it comes to matching elite benefits.
