Actually, IIRC, the QX gates are all C2[X], where X is a letter. I'm actually not sure where C5 is--the SeaTac map shows the next gate past C2 and C3 as C10, and C9 is a little further up and opposite. Maybe C5 is some stairway over there somewhere that leads downstairs to a bus loading area, though it's odd because the rest of AA's gates are in D.

The POS website itself shows your flight arriving at D6, too. Odd.
Passengers were told on board that they were arriving at D6. My wife got off and boarded the bus. Most passengers were held on plane for a few minutes because of delays in hooking up auxiliary power. It's a shame that flight crews don't advise passengers what to expect regarding being bused to terminal.

C5-L3 is Cargo 5 Line 3. It's in the parking area just south of the FAA tower. The other area that is being used as bus gates is Cargo 7, located west of Alaska's Hangars.

My first SEATAC bus gate today -- D6. A ramp from D6 to bus, ~5 min ride to aircraft. We boarded the plane from the rear. added ~20 mins to boarding process, i am sure it will get better.

C10 & C16 are also QX, E175 gates and have a letter assignment appended.

So it sounds like "bus gates" so far are NOT using the new "temporary" bus terminal? Instead just using already established gates?

The bus terminal won't open until October. By "temporary" they are talking 15-20 years, and most likely closer to 20 years.

The airport already has 4 bus gates, D6/D6A on Concourse D, B20/B21 on Concourse B, A20/A21 on Concourse A, and S1A on the South Satellite.

As already noted here, D6/D6A has handled AA flights. I have seen the Norwegian flight to London Gatwick handled out of A20/A21, and Delta has had flights out of B20/B21.

The bus terminal will add 6 bus gates so the airport will have a total of 10 bus gates.

The bus terminal will be very critical during the construction of Phase 2 of the North Satellite renovation which starts year which will mean Alaska will be down 12 gates until 2021, so Alaska will be a heavy user of the bus terminal.

Wait. There’s more construction at N after this round is finished? I thought they’d be in by 2019 or whenever it opens.

There is. Phase 2 is projected to be done in Q2 of 2021.

The old part of N will be renovated / rebuilt after the new expansion is done, so that is a lot of gates affected... imagine...

Yes, what you're seeing under construction now is Phase 1 and is the 8 gate extension to the North Satellite with an Alaska Lounge on the upper floor with views of the Olympic Mountains. This will finish next Spring.

After that, they will launch Phase 2 which will involve rebuilding the existing North Satellite and this will finish in 2021.

It's not as bad as you believe.

JAN 2019, 5 gates in the new addition, 7 in the current terminal, 1 bus gate. 13 total.
MAY 2019. 8 gates in the addition, 4 in the current terminal, 2 bus gates. 14 total.
JUL 2019. 9 gates in the addition, 0 in the current terminal, 5 bus gates. 14 total.
OCT 2019. 10 gates in the addition, 0 in the current terminal, 4 bus gates. 14 total.
MAY 2021. 10 gates in the addition, 4 in the current terminal, 0 bus gates. 14 total.

I didn't say anything about it being bad. I don't mind bus gates personally. I'm used to them from travels in Europe and Asia. They do add some extra time, but usually it's manageable.

Are you saying part of the new addition is opening in January, instead of spring? And when you say "current terminal" I assume you're talking about the existing North Satellite?

I know Alaska has already been using gate D6 (existing bus gate).

Bus gates are getting closer to completion. I can't read the gate number(s) from my photos but could in person from the D concourse windows. Gate displays were on and appeared to be functional. Thought I saw seating in place too.
