Perhaps AS should just close the account of Sam and ban him from Alaska MileagePlan for the rest of his life. @:-)

With the plethora of bloggers broadcasting the AS cards (from MMS 5 cards in a day and Frequent Miler's 5 Virgin cards in a day, and this Sam guy), little wonder AS is making things a lot harder.

Moreover, there are people in it NOT for themselves to fly but sell the tickets whether via brokers or among "friends". The common theme on AS account shut down thread is miles from CC, transferred from SPG, then booked tickets for others than account owner, not even share the same last name...

Internet is a 2-edge sword no doubt, and the lure of making extra bucks leads to many stupid things.

Then close every AS account of every blogger. Problem solved.

I can't log in either. They must be having system issues.

Log in is available again.

Stuff like this keeps up every airline will have it's own coded tips and tricks thread.

Hey CDKing any luck finding those great C1-C1 AS flights we took last winter? They don't seem to be that cheap again this year, only 5.5CPM :D

Come on people, we are going to lose more than just a weird option to use miles. We are going to lose legitimate options for using miles when AS fixes the issue.

CDKing Oct 29, 2015 11:09 am

Think about what happened with UA,. you cant get anywhere if you don't live in a hub city due to changes they made due to people trying to put together weird routings. It hurt those with legit routings the most

Exactly, bloggers and other posters here don't care about future bookings and just feel the need to spread the info further for whatever reason.

The easiest solution AS could implement is the number of legs per award. For example, by setting an upper limit at 4 legs you could fly SAN-SEA-DXB-BOM, but you would not be able to fly NYC-MIL-DXB-SYD-AKL-MEL-SIN.

This is beyond madness. JFK-DXB-SIN with connection in AKL/SYD/MEL? How did AS let this routing to ticket?

When Huang was ready to book his ridiculously extravagant trip (which included 11 cities, seven countries and five continents) he took advantage of a loophole: Alaska did not have any routing restrictions, and allowed him to take 24-hour layovers in several cities along his planned route.

And Alaska has fixed that particular loophole that he exploited, but “a milder one” is still out there.

MatthewLAX Oct 29, 2015 11:31 am

That is amazing if AS allowed that through. Cannot imagine that most agents would let a routing like that pass...
