Ok, I checked the glossary and couldn't find it, what is BBR?

Most people get it for the points. 30k mile offer with $100 credit, $75 AF.

Don't underestimate a 30k offer. AK points are very valuable.

I understand but that is not incentive enough for me to get that particular card.

Thanks. If I have one complaint about FlyerTalk it's peoples obsession with abbreviations thinking everyone knows every one of them.

I think you've summarized it well. For us, not being elite, it has already saved us more than the annual fee on baggage fees, and the companion fare saved us $1000 on our summer vacation. Clearly a great deal for us even setting aside the signup bonus (which doesn't carry a lot of weight for me when signing up for a new card, as I prefer to look at the long-term value of a card and am not interested in churning--though the first year net fee of minus $25 was nice!).

What number are you guys calling for the 2,500 points retention? Just the number on the back of the card or something else?

Just reminded that i should call. Worth keeping the card in my mind, but no reason not to see about retention.

One use I really like for this card is internationally for non travel/spend categories.

Conversion success!!

I successfully converted my ancient AS Platinum Plus card to a BoA Cash Rewards card today. Called the number on the back of my card and got it changed over first time. No loss of history or credit limit. I've tried to do this 5-6 times over the last year without any luck but for some reason it worked today!
