You would need to ask on the BA forum for more details, as BA program rules and procedures are not our area of expertise here.

Jackal, you are correct. You have to call BA to book on AS using Avios. I have had to do this. They will waive the phone booking fee - if you get the right agent ;)

From the BA website: You also need to contact your local Executive Club Service Centre to book using Avios on Aer Lingus, Alaskan Airlines and Kingfisher.

Does BA's site say Alaskan Airlines?

Too funny! Yes it does - I didn't even notice. I just copy and pasted from their site, this page: http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_us . Went back and checked again just now and it sure does say Alaskan. Yikes.

Does anyone have a report on Anchorage to LAX first class meal service?

I'd be shocked if you find anything. None of those Bush Alaska air taxis participate in any mileage program, AFAIK. Era is the closest thing that does, but it's a scheduled carrier, not an air taxi/flightseeing service.

If they did you'd have quite a few from last week :o

Someone should post this in the BA forum ;)

Thank you for your reply. One last question. If I pick the Coach Full Flex, does that fare qualify for an automatic upgrade?

do you mean buying a full flex coach ticket or award? As mentioned before on an award no. If you are buying it the answer is no or maybe. If u space is open and you are an elite then yes its an automatic upgrade. If you are not an elite then yes you could use miles to upgrade not automatically but by calling. Other than that its not like an automatic Y up fare like some other airlines sell. However for a non elite the perks are being able to select preferred seats and a 25% mileage bonus

Alaskan miles work for both two major award airlines?

Am I correct that Alaska is one of the only airlines to work across two alliance platforms...for example I could book on American or UA?

It isn't two alliance platforms, it is a selection of various partners which include several Skyteam and Oneworld partners, found here: http://www.alaskaair.com/content/mil...ePlan-partners

...of which AA is a partner and, just to clarify, UA is not.

DL, however, is a partner.

There is an entire thread on first class meals here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...3-edition.html

I recall there was at least one description of the meal on that flight - I believe they do a transcon service on that flight
