-First Class Waitlisted- message gone on reservations?
I just got off the phone with Paula in customer care who told me that the notification for being on the waitlist will no longer show up on reservations after October 1. Can anyone confirm this because I don't trust her or the system at all and would be bummed to miss my upgrades.
For reference, I have 3 flights in September and 2 in October in My Trips. The september flights all have the -First Class Waitlisted- notation under the leg of the trip. The october flights do not. I can go through the whole request process which gives me the message that it successful but the notification is still not there. |
Notification? aren't you able to see if you are "waitlisted" on your reservations online at alaska.com?
|
I don't know about the October 1 date, but it wasn't showing up for any of my recent reservations either, although the call center did confirm that I was waitlisted.

This could be frustrating as there have been a few times where have been removed from the waitlist due to a schedule change and wouldn't have known except for that little notice. |
I see --- First Class waitlisted --- on my 10/11 reservation booked today and my 11/10 reservation booked a while ago.

I see the notification on alaskaair.com for my October flights.
Since this was just recently added to the Android app, I'd be surprised if it was being removed from the website. |
We've had this conversation in a couple of places already. An agent told me this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/26930183-post311.html but also see this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...l#post27097639.
I was told you will no longer see the 'First Class Waitlisted' text until you are actually added to the waitlist at your upgrade window. For reservations made prior to the change, it still shows. But from the point of the change onwards, the agent told me you won't see the text but you will still be on the waitlist-before-the-waitlist. She said it was because you aren't actually ON the upgrade waitlist until your window and people were confusing the two. |

I have five flights for the rest of the year and two of them are missing the "Waitlisted for First Class" message. One of them is on a SkyWest E175 (in October) but the other is on a 739 (in November), yet I have two other flights in November with the message. Odd.

Perhaps thread title should list date of Change 10/1 so as to not mislead
|
This is very concerning, because having that "First Class Waitlisted" message is a reassurance that you're on the list.
Not sure why they would remove that functionality. In the UA-CO merger, that was something that UA had and CO didn't, so it was lost when they downgraded to CO systems. They even went so far as to build it for CO's systems. |
changes for 2017 benefit and beyond?
I noticed too why some of my other itineraries also didnt show the "waitlist". I wonder if some of F upgrade benefits are indeed going away in 2017 and this is the first step so as to not have any notation or documentation of F upgrade waitlist... I know it isnt like Alaska to be doing this but Ive heard VX doesnt get this benefit.....There must be some reasonable explanation why there is now some transparencies... (Just speculating of course)
Granted we all know -800's will soon move to 12F , loss of 4F, with an expanded Premium economy option..... Jiburi |
I just can't imagine they would take away complimentary upgrades. They'd be the first major carrier to do that. VX didn't do comp upgrades, but they never did...taking away a benefit is different.
And if you look at how important that is to so many of us...I'd be first in line to switch airlines if this perk went away. Even AA added this when they merged with US. |
although AS F is currently a pretty sad product, upgrades are one of the major things that keeps me interested in maintaining status. i am also concerned that with the VX acquisition and the retrofitting of the AS fleet to "enhance" Y+ and F, that F upgrades might go away or only be accessible with GGUs. time will tell...
anyways, i just made a reservation for November the other day, and F waitlisted still shows for me. YMMV. |
I like the reassurance of being able to look at my reservation and see the waitlisted message, I know I didn't mess something up at booking that way.
I can't see AS doing away with F upgrades but I do see them getting a lot tougher to get. The big unanswered question we are all waiting for is how will the new premium economy affect upgrades. |
