Started booking travel today...
(After being grounded the last 7 months with "surprise" cancer and then weekly chemo tx). Finally cleared for take-off .... yeah!!
Resv for Oct, Nov and December all show " first class wait listed" .
(I had a lot of DC that had to be used.)
Wish I could have used them for F.

Maybe wait listed notice is getting phased out slowly this fall??
When Y+ rolls out, will be interesting how it is handled.
Many 800's showing 12 F, Y still looks the same, at least to me.

I can still see the --- First Class waitlisted --- for my October and November reservations. I hope this does not go away either.

When I checked in for my flight today, I did not see my name on the upgrade list, even though it was approximately 40 names long. The reservation itself shows --first class waitlisted--, so I thought it was odd that my name wouldn't appear on the list upon check-in. I called in and the agent said that the upgrade list is now inaccurate and no longer contains all names. She reassured me that I was in fact on the list even if I do not see myself on it, and that there is no longer a way to tell what position you are on the list due to this issue. She mentioned it had to do with some kind of system transition, but beyond that didn't know any further details. Somewhat frustrating if your name happens to be one of the ones that doesn't show up, but also frustrating if you are on the list and trying to calculate whether you'll get the upgrade or not, because others could be ahead of you and just not show on the website/app.

I'd be interested in knowing whether you were on the list at the airport. Could the GA confirm that you are or were?

I haven't gone to the airport yet, so the phone agent is my only source so far. Probably won't bother asking at the airport as FC is full anyway, but if it happens again for the return I'll check.

Please do ask. Only to confirm that what we're being told - that we are indeed on the list even though we can't see it - is true. If you aren't on it, then we will all know not to take this as true and to escalate when it inevitably happens to one of us.

Just bought tickets for December. "First Class Waitlisted"

3ur0tr45h Sep 12, 2016 12:09 pm

I tried again to add the complimentary upgrades to my original trips and THEY WORKED! The message is now showing. Strange things are happening on the back end for AS...

If you have trips that aren't displaying a message you might want to try again.

Checked all the post 1 OCT flights for both my wife and myself and they all have "First Class Waitlisted", I guess YMMV.

I flew yesterday and had the same problem. My reservation showed --first class waitlisted-- but I did not show up on the upgrade list after check-in. I did not get an upgrade.

It seems every year they have something or other that messes with the upgrades.

Now I'm sounding like a parrot but did you ask the gate agent at the airport whether they could see you on their version of the upgrade list?

The exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I called in after I checked in using my phone and didn't see my name on the waitlist. The agent told me this can happen if first class is completely full but reassured me that I was on the list. I don't know if that's true or not but I never saw my name on the 20+ long list, didn't get upgraded and, from all appearances, neither did anyone on the waitlist.

I just bought a ticket for Feb, and it shows First Class Waitlisted.

Sorry. I did not ask at the airport. If happens again I will. But for my flight Thursday I'm already upgraded.
