HSBC Premier Airport Lounge program
Just received a survey from HSBC regarding a new product enhancement they are considering - airport lounge access. It was a fairly detailed survey including drawings of potential lounge layouts, and a detailed set of questions about services that would be preferred/chase you away/etc. Some of the interesting items they were asking about (beyond the usual suspects of internet access, deskspace, etc.) included:
- Express drycleaning service - Shoe shine - Full service restaurant - Multi-currency ATMs - HSBC operated lounges in major airports with add-on service of Prioritypass and/or Airport Angel - Free family access Here's hoping they decide to go ahead with it. It would be a wonderful addition! |
Excellent idea. I imagine this would be for Premier banking customers.
|
One of the questions on the survey asked if it would attract you or turn you off if it was available only to HSBC premier members. So I'm not sure what they are considering exactly. It may be something they are considering to give for free to Premier members and then charge for otherwise? Or perhaps they were trying to figure out if they need to do their own lounge vs. just contract in a lounge scheme like Priority pass.
I just hope they go ahead, as I think it would be a wonderful product enhancement that would play well with their target market. |
As an aside, here is a list of the airports that they were asking about in the survey in their broad usage list:
New York, John F. Kennedy International Airport Toronto, Pearson International Airport Los Angeles International Airport Chicago, O’Hare International Airport Miami International Airport San Francisco International Airport Boston International Airport Atlanta, International Airport Sao Paulo, Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil Rio de Janeiro, Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport, Brazil Brasilia International Airport - Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek (BSB) Mexico City International Airport Miguel Hidal Gudalajara Airport, Mexico Cancun International Airport, Mexico San Juan, Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, Puerto Rico Buenos Aires International Airport, Argentina Santiago de Chile International Airport London Heathrow Airport, UK London Gatwick Airport, UK London Stansted Airport, UK Manchester Airport, UK Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport, France Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands Frankfurt Airport, Germany Munich Airport, Germany Madrid Barajas International Airport, Spain Barcelona International Airport, Spain Dublin Airport, Ireland Milan, Malpensa International Airport, Italy Rome, Leonardo da Vinci Airport, Italy Zürich Airport, Switzerland Copenhagen Airport, Denmark Vienna International Airport, Austria Brussels Airport, Belgium Hong Kong International Airport Singapore, Changi Airport Tokyo, Narita International Airport, Japan Dubai International Airport Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand Incheon International Airport, South Korea Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia Mumbai Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, India Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Shanghai Pudong International Airport, China New York, John F. Located in and amongst the retail stores in the duty free area, a network of airport lounges in the largest international airports will ensure you have a comfortable, stress free, private and enjoyable experience while you wait for your plane. Access is unlimited for you and your accompanying family by merely showing your Premier Debit Card or Credit Card. Catering to your refreshment, relaxation, and business needs the lounge will also offer full transactional and Premier banking services in a 300 square metre space. In addition to the lounge staff there will be fully trained HSBC Premier staff to handle any financial queries you have. |
HSBC Premier MC Lounge Access in Japan
HSBC Japan offers lounge access to HSBC Premier MC holders. Flash your card and get in, according to the website.
http://www.hsbc.co.jp/1/2/hsbc-premi...airport_lounge Has anyone visited the lounges using their card for access? More importantly, are they nice lounges? You know, with the magical beer machine and so on? |
Thanks for the info, abraxis.
I often use IASS lounge in Narita Terminal 1 by showing Priority Pass. Next time I will try the HSBC Premier WMC. The inside of the lounge is nothing special, narrow and packed because they accepts numbers of Japanese Gold/Platinum credit cards... |

I was just wondering how this survey was communicated to you. I manage this for HSBC and have no idea where this survey came from. Any info. you could provide would be helpful. Thanks.
|
It came via e-mail with a link to a web survey. Looking back through my e-mail it appears it was sent on behalf of HSBC by an organization called GfK NOP.
Since you are managing this for HSBC - can you give us some more details about when this will start, what airports, etc? Thank you! |
Thanks so much for responding..I will have to look into that further.
We just completed a Test Pilot Program a few weeks ago and are still gathering results to determine the success. This progam was specific to AA's Five Star Service which is only available right now at JFK and LAX. We are looking into several possibilities with them for a possible Summer promo. as well as some of the other items mentioned in this thread. As I only manage this for the U.S., each country would probably look for programs that would best benefit them and their businesses. We do try to leverage as much as possible though. There will definitely be more to come as we continue down this path with Airport Advertising. |
Thank you. I know many of us would appreciate it as a worldwide option as those in the mid-market affluent segment tend to have international lifestyles. Looking forward to seeing what HSBC offers in YVR as well!

Count Me In!
I too would be all over this card - I'm already an HSBC Premier member but don't have the card yet. Lounge access (to ANY lounge) would make me get this card in a heartbeat, and I hope they expand the list of airports to include EWR.

As another HSBC Premier member, I'd be up for this too!
I noticed that Premier in other countries offer lounge access for their members gratis; hope we get that privilege here regardless of airline (I don't fly AA, wrong alliance). |
Now that HSBC is branding the jetbridges at YVR (http://www.canada.com/News/HSBC+bran...414/story.html) any chance of them branding a lounge too?
|
I wonder if HSBC will go ahead with this after their financial results yesterday. It would be rather expensive to build their own lounges.
