An FYI that this is how the card looks in my Google Wallet. For multiple PP accounts, one can add the linked card info to tell them apart.

Edited not to show QR code itself

The physical card arrived a couple of days ago, so definitely not discontinued.

Last month I tried to enter the ARN PP lounge with my old card (exp 9/21) and luckily found a very patient lounge warden who tried everything to allow us in. First she swiped the old card. Rejected. Then she entered the digital card number manually. Rejected. Finally she entered the old number on the card and the new expiry date (30 SEP 24) manually and it worked. 😅

Since I have travel coming up in a few days I thought I'd sort out the situation. Chase still shows everything to be fine, but the PP site wouldn't take my card details afresh. So I tried to reset the password with my card number on pp's website. No dice. Then I entered my email ID in the PP website to find out my username: this was the clue... I had two usernames associated to the same email. Initiated a password reset with the username I thought was associated with the Chase CSR and finally got a reset email and was able to access the digital card on the app ✨🎉

So here is the decoding of the QR code in the app:PP/210617/MR. ASA HAUSER/0518/1414186739//1/5C3075

PP/{date the code was generated in DDMMYY}/{name on the card}/{exp date in MMYY}/{digital card number}///{six digit alphanumeric number two letters followed by 4 numeric digits}

The only mystery that remains is the code in the end. Is it a checksum of some sort or does it indicate where you have your PP card from?

Having had physical Priority Pass cards (which we never used) from 2015-17 through my JPM Ritz-Carlton Visa for myself, spouse, and two young adult sons, I am interested to read that reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

Still received a physical card from their Hong Kong office for a recent Amex Plat. But I also had to mail a hard copy to Hong Kong to get the membership so I'm guessing they're still stuck in 1996.

My priority pass card expires 4/2024. Will priority pass/chase send out a new card or do I have to request it?

is chase membership still providing physical cards?

Will be going to TPE and unsure if over seas agents will know how to process a digital card.

also plan to use at restaurants in the US. don’t want to hand them my phone to process the $28 payment.

I received my CSR PP card in the mail yesterday. Using the digital PP card in the Chase app at an airport restaurant the other day worked just fine. I might create a PP online account for the kicks of it.

I recommend that. You can put the CSR PP card in your Apple Wallet and be done with it. There are some cards that I prefer to have as physical cards in my wallet, but I use the CSR PP card maybe two or three times a year. Don't want to carry that one around all year, unnecessarily.

I've seen someone using their PP card to get priority boarding. And succeed... :D

Must have been first day on the job for a gate agent.

I admire the hustle of that entrepreneur. Might try it myself!

Off topic, but I read that Google is getting rid of the Google wallet.

Definitely off-topic, but also incorrect. Google is sun-setting Google Pay, not Google Wallet. They are in fact keeping Google Wallet as the standard going forward.

Also, this example really has nothing to do with the topic as Google is just collapsing what were two, similar, digital offerings to one digital offering. This thread is about going from a physical card to a digital offering only which I guess concerns some people (it used to concern me, but less so these days. Literally can't remember the last time I accessed a PP Lounge that didn't accept digital card)

Regards

It's Google Pay that's shutting down, not Google Wallet. You'll still be able to use "tap to pay" with your mobile device (via NFC), and manage payment and loyalty cards.
