Chances for an RU?
Hi guys
I have a flight a week on Saturday for which there are currently 12 open seats on the website in PE.
RUs will be allocated in 2 days - do you think I have a good chance to nab one?
Flight is long haul, aircraft 777-200.
Cheers.

Firstly it's not possible to tell how many seats are "open" but you can try dummy bookings up to 9 to see how many seats Air NZ are willing to sell.
All anybody can say is good lock.

Interesting - I had called AirNZ a few days back in order to make sure the RUs had been correctly applied. The agent told me that it looked like there were quite a few PE seats available. When I asked how many she said she couldn't give out that info.
For the record, it's one of the less busy LH routes.

Eh, I'd be pretty hopeful. What makes Y-PE upgrades easier is that there's usually movement from PE-BP as well. Worth checking what the pointy end looks like, and if there's room for movement there, I'd ratchet my hopes up a notch. Good luck!

Interesting just to note - flights to/from USA are eligible for refunds of additional purchased baggage and seat select in their own right.
Other destinations are not (you need a fully flex ticket which you are refunding, or AirNZ needs to have messed up somehow essentially).
