Will I Earn XP on Air France if I Pay Part of My Delta Flight with eCredits?

Hey everyone,

I’m booking a Delta flight and planning to use a Delta eCredit to cover part of the fare. I’m wondering—will I still earn XP with Air France-KLM? Not sure if I pay with DL eCredits will make the booking in different limitations.

I know earnings are usually based on the fare class and route, but does using eCredits affect that in any way? Would love to hear from anyone who’s done this before.

Thanks!

Yes, you will.

All revenue tickets earn XPs, regardless of how they are paid for.. Only award bookings do not earn.

Note, however, that as you are booking via Delta and using an eCredit, there is a chance that your Skymiles number will be hardwired into the booking, and that your Skymiles account will be credited rather than your Flying Blue account. We have had numerous reports on the Flying Blue forum involving Delta down through the years of miles posting to the "wrong" account even when the boarding pass shows the "right" FFP details/number.

Once you make the booking, immediately ensure that on the website:
1) Your name is correct on the ticket (i.e. no double middle name etc.)
2) Change skymiles to FB number

This worked for me.

This does worry me. It’s true that my Delta FFP seems to be stuck there, and there’s no way to change it to FB. Can anyone tell me if I’ll be able to change it after booking the flight?

it’s strange, I suppose the booking is connected with my eCredit, that’s why it stuck with my Delta FFP, am I going to be able to change to FB number after book the flight?

Ah, yes that's same as for me, sorry let me explain better: when you make the booking at Delta's website and pay for it with ecredits, your skymiles is forced in. Then you go to manage your booking and:
1) Remove skymiles account under passenger details, I never had issue here on the website.
2) Verify that your name is correct (i.e. no double middle name). If you need name correction, then contact delta support (over messaging is fine for me). Don't enter FB # yet, leave FFP blank (if you put FB# support will have issues changing the name because it needs to match FB#)
3) Once they correct your name or if your name was correct, enter FB # under Air France or KLM under passenger details.
4) I then close the page and reopen it again to verify everything is correct (i.e. FB# and benefits).

Voila, done.

thank you so much, a small issue, since delta ffp is forced in, my first name has “mr” after. Do I need to remove “mr”?

Yes, you'll need to ping Delta support to remove that once you book, otherwise your name won't match FB#.

Afterbooking, I can't remove skymiles account under passenger details...there's no such options there....

The way I do it is -

1. Once I get to the payment step on DL's site, I click on "use eCredits" and fill in the info. It will automatically populate the FFP under personal details as "DL SkyMiles," but with the actual # blank. I go ahead and pay for the flight.

2. I go to "manage my reservation." Under "loyalty," the section is blank. I select "Flying Blue" from the drop down box, and type in my number. A few seconds later, the webpage reloads and the system recognizes my # and status "SkyTeam Elite Plus"

3. At no point in this entire process am I logged in. I simply use the website as a guest.
