Problems with WebSite

Tried to pull out a reservation that was on hold..got the message that "cannot be accessed...flight itinerary being modified..." ; so, since I was changing dates anyway, attempted to make a new reservation (YUL-GRU)...when I went to purchase, kept getting "fare has increased" -- and not by a tiny amount, but by about $300.

I called a travel agent and got the originally quoted fare from the website that was shown as wide open in Sabre...so well worth their service fee, as the alternative would have been to call and wait on hold for Web Support and jump through hoops trying to explain the situation.

My time is worth more than the service fee....does anyone know what the problems were in both instances on the web?

Your time is worth 300$ an hour ?

You must be a consultant ! :D

Hours

Indeed, I am a consultant, LOL!
The fare difference was $300...I got the lower fare (by $300) with the travel agent whose service fee was $100 (OPC/GST/QST included, so I get some of that back as an ITC)....so my hour "cost" me about $90, not $300, and, in any case, it's a tax deductible business expense.

Expedia.ca / Travelocity.ca don't have a $100 service fee and could have helped here.

The website is always full of flaws and errors.

The current Exec Class seat sale isn't bookable online for a lot of routes. Maybe because it has been loaded as a mandatory roundtrip fare with a Saturday night stay and within NA the website only looks at oneway fares.

Works great on the GDS and via 3rd party sites... but ac.com doesn't price it out and the sale ends today. YUL-LGA on SABRE is $940.00, AC.com $2670.00.

And they still promise that their lowest fares are always available online?

It ranks with how they get the caramel into the caramilk bar mystery.
