My flight instrucotr's dad is a jazz crj700 pilot - said 3.5 hrs from wheels down to gate tonight. Crazy. |
It must suck to live in a place that get's hammered by crappy, cold weather in the winter, then by this kind of stuff in the summer. I can't remember the last time YVR was shut down for any length of time.
I guess that's just one more reason why the average home price in Vancouver has crossed $500k :p |

Good thing I wasn't flying out tonight!
Let's hope tomorrow will be alright. |

Yeah, it looked pretty backed up on the tarmac about 645pm. Saw lots landing, and not many leaving. The news on 640AM said they had lightning warnings, and the ground crews weren't out to get the planes into the gates.

:D :D The J cabin erupted in applause once the pilots finally arrived from the centre of the universe (nearly 3 hrs late). The FA's were great though and we made good time. |

From today's Daily
"Weather alerts impact operation at Toronto Pearson Airport
Yesterday, Toronto Pearson Airport experienced six back-to-back Red Alerts from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. As a result, some flights were either cancelled or delayed. The operation was also affected by a ground stop and subsequent ground delay program into Toronto Airport due to weather. There were also Air Traffic Control delays at Newark and Chicago Airports. "Thanks to all employees for taking care of our customers and each other during yesterday's operation," said John Segaert, General Manager, Toronto Airport. "Even though it was a challenging day, we demonstrated our ability to work as a team. All departments worked together to ensure that we delivered the best possible customer recovery. We all rose to the occasion and ensured that our customers arrived safely. By all accounts, customer reaction to yesterday's operation was excellent." |
