Things are back to normal now. Except for the delays.
Hope no one was doing a mileage here. |
The irony of security is the more one has of it, the less that person and their neighbours feel as such....... at least dying in a plane crash means the loved ones left behind will live comfortably at your literal expense......

Breech or lack there of
I was at YVR checking in when the shut down happened. How incompetent can our security contractors get? When they finally got their heads out of their collective a** they refuse to tell us what happened, screw around with peoples flights, delay the airlines - for what - no penalty? All becasue they do not know how to staff an entrance?
The "breech" was at Pier C which requires fast track passengers to go through security as per everyone else - how many people were not at their posts? I wish I could land such a good contract...... |
I just went through security twice in YUL domestic (don't even get me started as to why) and neither time through did anyone even ask to see a BP?????? Both times there was a very long queue for YUL standards and there were only either 5 security lines the first time and 4 the second time. I asked one of the agents why so few lines running and she said a bunch of them were sent to the US wing and some others were on break. She went on to say that "they work SOOOO hard and need a break". Not that they don't have an important job, but come on, waving the metal detectors and rolling carry-ons onto a converyor must be a lot more strenous than I thought.
BTW, the 17:50 YUL-YVR was showing as delayed for over an hour. Perhaps due to the YVR security issue? |

Another fine example of federal incompetence.
Security is a sham, plain and simple. Purely for optics. I hope AC sues CATSA for costs incurred (Again) for delays and misconnecting customers. This follows the YHZ Airport Authority debacle earlier this summer. In a business where margins a paper thin to begin with, this cannot possibly help. |
Don't get this mixed up. It wasn't federal incomptence. It was that of the contractor!!! I find it a shame that these people get to wear the Canada wordmark. Disgraceful.

Not mixed up at all. Who contracted this outfit ?? Who charged a security tax for the benefit of all Canadians and pours it into general revenue ?? Little in the way of new equipment, little in the way of training ala Europe, standards that are horribly wide and varied from one airport to the next in this country. But the uniforms are nice !! |
