MLL Access while flying another non-*A carrier.

Hello All,

Rookie poster, Elite newbie and long time FT reader. Be gentle :D

Using the search option and reading the requirements on aeroplan.com I couldn't find the exact answer.

As an Elite, can my GF and I, when flying ZOOM Air YYZ - CDG use the lounge? I know it usually requires an AC or *A boarding pass however I'm curious if there is an unwritten exception to this rule? What about the *A lounge at CDG.

Cheers,
Steedz

Can't say about CDG, but doesn't Zoom fly out of T-3? If so, there is no MLL over there so I think you are out of luck. As for entering without a *A BP, I'd say your chances are 50/50. The rules say no, but sometimes the agents, at least in YYZ don't check.

Sorry no access to a *A lounge when flying Zoom or other non *A carriers.

One option you might want to look at is http://www.prioritypass.com/. Priority Pass has lounge access at T3 YYZ and at most areas of CDG (I don't know where Zoom flies out of CDG so unsure). It is unrelated to carrier/cos/status.

Doc Fraud is right, there is no MLL in T3, where ZOOM flies from, so even if there was a way to get in the lounge (I'm not saying there isn't a way...when there's a will, there's a way), it seems pretty pointless, considering travel time between temrinals at YYZ.

I may be wrong , but I thought an SE could use MLL regardless of carrier flown?

Not any more... http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...ndex.html#r0s0

"Super Elites with a valid membership card and a same-day confirmed ticket on an Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Star Alliance or Air Canada Codeshare flight are entitled to access the Maple Leaf Lounge."

The wording of the rule was changed after 9.11. Prior to the prohibition of non-boarding pass holders going airside, an SE could use the MLLs even when not flying [and thus could always fake the fact s/he was holding a non-AC/STAR boarding pass since nothing had to be shown to the receptionist]. This was another great benefit of SE over E. However, now the only facility one can access at any time is the LHR Arrivals Lounge, who have been known to let SEs in even when they've not flown AC. [The year after I finally made SE, they made this change.]

I believe the TSA in the US has changed their rules so that non-boarding pass holders can go airside, and thus can use RCCs and other airline lounges they are holding membership(s) with.

I remember KH and Damien meeting me at the YVR MLL when I flew through a few years back.

Have you flown with other *A carriers? I've had no problems accessing the MLL at YVR's int'l terminal with my SE status flying out on an SQ flight.

As a side note, I've noticed that E's tend to get asked for BPs and SE's do not, at least in YYZ.

Also getting into the RCC or USAir Club always requires a BP no matter what the colour of the card!
