That's why you don't travel together anymore? :p

(Happy belated 2000)

Is J addictive?

I don't know that I would call it addictive, but once you have had more space it is hard to go back to Y.

I like After Burner's analogy the best.

CP gave me an op up years ago flying HNL-AKL, that was my first taste of J.

Stinger mentioned he flew CUN-YYZ in Y and it was not as bad as he had remembered it being. I have to agree with him. We flew to Vegas this Feb with friends who were on a different budget to ours, we happily travelled with them as they were travelling newbies and nervous, flew on UA via SFO in Y+. It was fine for the those short hops.
I wouldn't want to fly to NZ in Y, but I am seriously considering flying to YYZ on a Tango+ fare. Now that I have realised that Y is not that bad, the $$ diff between T+ and Lat is huge. I will happily pay Lat if I have a guaranteed u/g, not interested in paying that amount of money and having the chance of being stuck in the back.

Y is fine domestically... But I don't know how I'll ever be able to sleep on a 333, 343, or 777/787 in Y trans-oceanically ;)

YOWkid Apr 25, 2005 8:39 am

Well, you just don't sleep...

I don't even sleep in J most of the time. :D

Doc Fraud Apr 25, 2005 8:48 am

IT IS DEFINITELY NOT ADDICTIVE. I CAN STOP ANYTIME.......

as soon as my certs run out :D

Go for it! It'll be an incentive to get that real job your mom would like you to get.

I agree that it's hard to go back to Y when you fly J... Luckily, Citypass has helped feed the addiction. Even when I have to shell out the extra bucks to pay for C, I think of it as a reward to myself for 14 years of post-secondary education... We all justify our addictions somehow ! :)

Is J addictive?

The whole purpose of this forum is how to get into the front cabin. ! :D

djjaguar64 Apr 25, 2005 11:30 am

Is J addictive, that is an understatement, Flying International J on SQ and CX and MH is like Heaven, no comparisions whatsoever to N.A. airlines. :p

djjaguar64 Apr 25, 2005 11:35 am

Ooops sorry double posting.

why fly Apr 25, 2005 11:40 am

Oh god yes its additive,,, I had to switch airlines and programs to get unpgrades to J but I was hooked! Once you figure out programs its easy and cheap go for it! Dont suffer in Y anymore! :)

need or ego ?

I used to fly Y class exclusively until about 4 years ago when I started doing lots of Asia Pac/Australia/Europe flights in J class.

Now I get irritated/impatient etc. etc. when I dont get upgraded, or when I have to fly a non-Star Alliance on Y and cant use the lounge or cant get on the plane first.

And it got me thinking .. what the hell happened !!

is it ego now ?

Well...I am planning to do some travelling this summer before I have to "get a real job". I'm going to be stuck in Y from YVR-SIN-PER-SIN-PVG-LHR-HKG-SIN-YVR. Since I'm not flying AC, I can't use any upgrades. I will make E for next year, however. ^

All sentiments of sympathy are welcome in anticipation of this horrible journey two-thirds around the world. (it was cheaper than a RTW) :D

There's usually enough booze to put me to sleep in Y on these trans-ocean flights, right?

Intl J is extremely addictive! I changed my return from LHR this past weekend from Sunday to Monday because the Sunday flight was showing J0, while Monday was J9 C9. $200 very well spent. Service was amazing both ways.

I upgraded a friend on the flight over who had never flown Intl J and he was loving every second of it!

Ha! Good one, After Burner. I can attest to that, having done one short segment (YYZ-YQR) in J and then return in Y. Painful is precisely the word I would use now. Ouch, my back! :td:
