Hey guys thanks for the information. I did understand about fare class (the first "L") but was unsure about alll the other letters after it. I think that tcook052 and DutchSE got the jist of what I was asking for. Sorry for getting people confused and heated.
I do understand of the different fare codes in existance and did check the Booking Class thread above but I believed that it did not seem to answer my specific question and wasn't sure of the remaining letters that might not let me accrue "Q" miles. I just wanted to make sure as the fare was the cheapest I have seen for a while (I ended up paying CAD$ 633.75 return which included taxes, fees etc. - not a bad fare I thought) and able to accumulate "Q" miles |
podge, yes tcook and dutchse were attempting to answer your question in the correct manner. you'll get 100% status miles and $633.75 return airfare is ^

It was a good question. One thing worth looking at is when you get a fare with an X one way and a W the other. As was pointed out, the W (weekend) will be more expensive (and what is defined as W i think can be pretty extensive) but if you want to save a few dollars and can be flexible, you can shift the date, get both as an LLX... and the difference can be a fair bit.

I have wondered about this myself, so summarizing:
L - L booking class L - Low season (H=high, K=shoulder) X - Weekday (W=weekend) AP - Apex CAD - Originating in Canada This seems to apply to a lot of fares (as listed in travelocity or expedia) but there are lots of other variations too. For example LLFSASOP, BLXAPE, BCAD |

I have also heard of stories of some of the discounted Expedia fares sometimes not being eligable for accumulating miles.

I have been looking for fares for a while on the usual sites (AC, Destina, Travelocity etc) and the fares were quite a lot more and this is why I was also initally surprised with Expedia as they dont usually seem to be the cheapest. But I booked the fare, got the confirmation total in $CAD and once I got the AC confirmation code from my itinerary, went to the AC site and confirmed that it was booked. All looks well. With the savings, I should be able to afford a few more pints !!. |
