Bridge Issues

AC 138 today at YYZ. It took 15 minutes to position the bridge and then not correctly. Mrs W was watching on the tail cam and after 5 minutes said "It needs to be lowered by 3 feet or so". After a couple more minutes the door was opened and the SD got the captain. "There is quite a gap there......:. The captain deemed it not safe and so they adjusted it for another 5 minutes. Even when done and we deplaned there was still at least a 6 inch drop from the plane to the bridge. We may have arrived 7 min early but deplaned 10 min late.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago, and on a short connection at that. Training new staff, perhaps?

Young Drivers of Canada!!!

Nothing more frustrating than arriving early and then sitting and having to sit and wait to get off the plane because there was no gate, no ground crew, bridge issue, etc..

You would think that they could pre-program the height for each aircraft type. The bridge already moves up and down automatically as the plane loads and unloads, why can’t the starting height be pre-programmed?

Usually there is a pre-programmed height for each aircraft type, however for the last approx 5 feet it needs to be controlled manually as each flight has different pax and cargo loads.
It takes practice to be able to judge the final height required.
