I really wish I saw this thread before my travel experience today.
Flying LHR-DUB-YYZ, EI to AC. EI in Y, AC in J - Couldn't check in for anything online in advance, so get to LHR super early - EI can't find my ticket number, but after 20 minutes, they figure out and can check me in to DUB - Finally get a seat, pretty empty flight and organized boarding, so that part was fine. - EI can't check me in for AC flight, so they say go see AC - AC can't do it because it originates from DUB (not LHR where I was) I was very stressed that if we were delayed, and I missed the AC check in window, that I would be stuck in DUB - talked to AC ticketing desk in LHR, they wouldn't check me in - too early in the morning, no AC concierge working yet at LHR - call the concierge line, within 5 minutes I have a pdf boarding pass in my email, saved the day. I have no idea what someone who didn't know how to navigate would have done, but that was a mess. |

Suprised something like this hasn't made it to the CBC yet - every possible other thing has.

I contacted them but they didn't seem to care..
Suppose I'm straying a bit off topic (and jaded :)), though now... |

Over many, many years of flying YYZ-LHR-DUB and YYZ-DUB-LHR and the inverse, I have never once been able to:
It's a farce and has been so for many years. I hoped the switch to Amadeus fixed this, but seems not.

My experience has been similar.

Ouch! I’ve just booked YVR-DUB-LHR with LHR-YYC-YVR return in J for 50% of the cost otherwise, thanks to Google Flights. I have a six hour layover in DUB which is fine, and I’m ok with a bad economy seat for 1.5 hours. My question is whether checked baggage makes it through ok? Especially if I use my SE privilege of 3 bags at 32 kg…. This is a part of a relocation support exercise for one of the jr visitors.
Any and all insight appreciated, including any other updates on EI codeshare issues with AC. Also, on recent bookings where the EI flight was EI coded (i.e. not a codeshare), I have managed to get a BP. Still no dice for codeshare, AFAIK. |
The issue continues. It is frustrating to be unable to book the appropriate reduced business class fare when booking a codeshare connecting flight from ICN or TYO. Now with AC's bloated airfares, there is no incentive to book with the airline.

Itinerary: DUB-LHR-YVR round-trip.
Fare: Business Class (Lowest) Flights and fare classes:
Tried crediting EI leg to BA (which is now permitted), and BA said that the flight wasn’t eligible, because on their end U class is a “Reward Flight class.” I cannot credit this leg to EI either, as they only credit flights booked on their stock (as well as BA, UA or AA). I cannot credit this leg to AC either, because it was sold as an EI flight number, and not as a codeshare AC flight number. Both options were actually available for sale, but I specifically chose the EI flight number option, as I wanted the BA credit for the flight and because I have BA status benefits. Long story short, by booking it like this, I’m now forfeiting any miles or tier points or Avios for this segment. Sharing here in case others are facing the same decision when booking non-AC connecting tickets. Also, on the return portion, when checking in on aircanada.com, the system wanted to charge me for bags over 23kg and for having three bags (which would have been my SE entitlement). The check-in agent, could check in bags over 23kg (under 32kg), but couldn’t check in three bags without charging for the third one. Had to get the concierge to override something in the system to force a free check of the third bag. |
If you wanted the BA credit, then why didn't you book the long leg on BA as well?
|
Prefer booking AC for SQD. And I received BA credit for the BA leg DUB-LHR. My point wasn't really about BA or EI, but how AC's fare class on an AC ticket is being interpreted by BA.
